Yeah the Chiefs had a great game plan for the Bills and the home field advantage to execute it. They weren't as fortunate.....or prepared......last night. Level playing field, both teams healthy and rested. Quote
TheFunPolice Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) Beane and McDermott asked Epenesa to "slim down" (just google it, you'll see plenty of references to it) after Beane talked about loving his measurables on draft night. This scheme and philosophy are the problem. Eagles attack and prize big, physical linemen on both sides of the ball. On D we seem to want quick smaller guys, and the scheme is to sit back, keep the game in front of you, come up to make tackles and don't give up anything big. Wait for the QB to make a mistake, or the OL to hold, or someone to drop a pass. and it works a lot, until you play elite teams. I want my 350 lb DT this year in the draft! 340 is fine too, because he can put the work in at the cafeteria to get where he needs to be. Edited 16 hours ago by TheFunPolice 3 Quote

pennstate10 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Eagles DL and DBs were terrific. They deserve the credit for this win. But they had an advantage no other team playing the Chiefs had this year. Honest officiating. When is the last time Mahomes has had 40 dropbacks and zero roughing, zero defense holding and zero DPI calls? Im pretty sure that all the noise this week affected the officials. Or they were told to only make thise calls if it was egregious and they were absolutely sure it was a foul. 2 Quote
TFBillsfan Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago The reality this was a down year for KC and their pixie dust finally ran out. Their OL was a mess and only ONCE all season their offense scored more than 30 points. Secondly, it highlights how BAD, very BAD our overall D was in this past season. We all saw it each week. Zero pass rush on a consistent basis, inability to stop the run consistently and our woeful 3rd down D. In some regards, the Bills probably overachieved due to Josh and the O masking how bad the D was. When your O is scoring 30 plus a game, you tend to think it’s okay. At the end of the day, Beane and McDermott HAVE TO DRAFT better. They can’t continue to have non impactful players with their 1st picks. Beane wasted draft capital on trading up for Elam and Kincaid, while believing he had to add a big WR in Coleman. who can’t separate. He’s missed badly in the last three drafts on his first picks and it’s creating rippling impacts! We have two LB when healthy are good but they can’t stay healthy. Outside of Benford, our entire secondary is below avg. And finally, our DL, for all the draft capital and free agency money spent, they’ve yet to produce when it matters. They all individually have a game or two where they appear but far too many where they are MIA. Bottom line, the D needs a significant overhaul and upgrade of talent. 4 1 Quote

Sacks numbers alone don't tell the whole story, and not for nothing but those numbers you posted show more than DOUBLE the number of hurries compared to ours. (reading is hard ) I think it's fair to say we have a lot more room to improve compared to them. Yeah the Eagles are STOUT in the middle of their DL. That is the biggest difference. Not the pass rush. The Bills vulnerability in the middle often takes the starch out of their pass rush because inviting the run leads to the ends having to be more assignment sound. And stout in the DL allows the LB's to make plays. That's why Baun could become an NFL DPOY candidate. Eagles also improved their secondary by going with 2 DB's early in the draft last year. But it just so happened in this game that the pass rush showed up for them and now fans who don't really follow the rest of the NFL that closely think they had a fearsome foursome of pass rushers on every down. Not the case. 1 1 Quote
PoundingDog Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago So how did Eagles got there? Did they sign a Garrett that cost them 2 1st round picks+ to get there? Look at their D-Line (3-4): LDE Milton Williams 3rd round pick 73rd overall by Phily NT Jordan Davis 1st round pick 13th overall by Phily RDE Jalen carter 1st round pick 9th overall by Phily WLB Nolan Smith, 1st round pick 30th overall by Phily SLB Josh Sweat, 4th round, 130th overall by Phily. That's how you do it when you are paying your QB. 1 Quote

Imagine oliver doesnt disappear for months at a time, and what happened to Daquon Jones? ... our roster is just not championship caliber outside 17. and that responsibility lies directly with Brandon Beane. Enough of this high motor BS. BPA. ALWAYS. I’ve been thinking about DeJean for months now, but I don’t see how we would have gotten him unless we passed on Coleman. DeJean was mocked to us with our first pick and we used 5 visits on him. Eagles traded up to get him and I don’t see us having done that. Plus, if we didn’t go WR with that first pick, people would have lost their minds. All that being said, I wish we had found a way to get both. 2 1 Quote

People seem to forget Rousseau was drafted primarily to be the 'Mahomes stopper' - with his length and athleticism to chase and close and pull Patty down as he pranced around the pocket. He just hasn't shown up and done that when it mattered. Quote

They blitzed Mahomes 0 times. No spy (or the spy was way back taking on other responsibilities as well). That is hard to accomplish, all game long I might add. The success of the D-Line allowed Phily's secondary to be aggressive. The Chiefs had been going with a quick passing game the last few games with great success because teams, like the Bills, had been playing not to let them to beat us deep. But Phily pretty much said you don't have time to go deep. masterful game plan by fangio. 1 Quote

If we were not so much into a pigeon hole of must-have-a-receiver mindset, which might have influenced the scoring on players, based on pure ability, would DeJean be higher on their draft board? If the Bills got DeJean and whichever WR at Bishop's spot, what kind of impact to this team in hindsight? Or maybe they could trade straight up with the Browns for Cooper using that pick. Quote

That OR the best OL in the league........and 2 top 15 WR in the NFL........for their fairly robotic very good but non-elite QB to throw to from a pocket with no pressure. Eagles roster is better than the Bills in a lot of areas and the pass rush isn't one of the more significant differences. WR is actually the biggest spread. 2 out of 3 are way better than the Bills options. DL, the Bills could make a couple adds and be as good or better. OL, probably just need to upgrade on Cybo to level up with them. Quote

The bills obviously loved dejean... and for some reason had a high 2nd round grade on coleman... wild to think where someone like troy frankin was selected. could have had both AND probably coleman, in lieu of bishop who did exactly nothing.
