I’m pessimistic that we end up with either Garrett or Crosby (for starters, they’re not free agents and if they end up on the market, other teams could very well be positioned to make Cleveland or Las Vegas much better offers).

On the other hand, Josh Sweat and Milton Williams are free agents.  I could live with a front four of Sweat, Williams, Oliver and Rousseau and concentrate draft capital on the back end.  I could live with that even without adding a quality boundary WR.  Thoughts?

Sweat will be PAID this offseason.  Teams know they can get him without giving up draft capital, and with term.  I'm not sold on Williamson where I need to break the bank.

Bills best opportunity is to get Garrett and pair him with Rousseau for the year.  Give up the draft capital, but add a guy who is the premier talent on the dline

EDIT:  Another guy from last night that I would want?  Wharton from the Chiefs.  He is a sneaky good player for them

Sweat for sure! Wea lso saw last night what a good pass rush can do BUT ALSO what a good safety allows the pass rush to do. We need both.

This, I'm more interested to see how someone plays when not surrounded by probowl caliber teammates. Anyone coming to Buffalo this off-season will have to be a one man wrecking crew while they transition their personnel to man coverage.

Honestly, I'd be happy with Bolton from the Chiefs too. He can be burnt in coverage, but he's really solid against the run, which is something we can really use.

Don't forget Hendrickson from Cinci. There's no way they will give him a big contract after just giving one to Burrow and now Chase is due.

Sweat, Hendrickson, Mack, possibly Crosby and Garrett. This could be one of the best offseasons for pass rushers EVER. We need at least one of these guys!

Do you mean Hendrickson from Cincy?

Looking at Sweat’s career stats versus Rousseau, they’re basically clones of each other. If Sweat is valued at $18M/yr, while Rousseau is valued at $25M/yr, I think it’s obvious who our Robin should be on the DL while we go get Batman.

Isn’t Rousseau better against the run?  To me, he’s a perfect complementary DE with a high level pass rusher on the other side.  On the other hand, $25 million?  Not going there.

Another player that i have read isn't really happy with the communication in Cinci and only has 1 year left on his contract is Trey Hendrickson, he lead the NFL in sacks and will be wanting a new contract that looks as if the Bengals won't be able to give him . That & the fact he is 30 might work against him .

If the Bills could get him some how and get a couple years out of him for a decent contract number i would take it . What you think  ?

It's Garrett, Crosby, Sweat & Hendrickson in that order. I'm not even considering Mack. Keep Rousseau his last year then let him walk via Tremaine.

Josh Sweat earned a huge payday yesterday, not sure the Bills should be that team.  At the end of the day his production is not much different than Rousseau.  Just saying you have to consider the body of work vs one game.  We have seen SB standouts get overpaid in the past I bet that happens with him.

Yes on all counts.  Sweat has a little bit of Leonard Floyd in him to me.  Floyd is more of a tornado.  Sweat has a bit more bull to his game (at least when he’s running over Joe Thuney).  But the long arms and the build give me a little glimpse of a Floyd comp.

Rousseau, on the other hand, is a Mario Williams-like garbage man.  He’ll get his sacks on power and reach.  Not a lot of pretty sacks with him.

Having a good DT who can generate a little more push would help him a lot and allow him and the DT to accumulate some sacks by just trapping the QB.

Who is transitioning to man coverage? The Bills?
