And more so, he was just a consistent part of their offense. Yes, didn’t rate highly against press, didn’t break many tackles (did have one in the Super Bowl), but he consistently caught 4-8 balls every game. Even the most optimistic of Coleman extrapolations was 700+ yard pace and ~40 catches. Look at the WRs Worthy had around him Juju had 18 catches, Justin Watson had 22, Mecole Hardman had 12. Dustin Hopkins, Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown stats aren't great but only played a handful games. Edited 17 hours ago by The Jokeman Quote

In his last 10 games, he never had fewer than 4 catches and scored 7 TDs. Presumably, he’ll have Rashee Rice lined up opposite him for most of the season plus likely Hollywood Brown as well. That would be a top 5 set of receivers. 1 Quote

He had the 3rd most yards after catch in the NFL. The fact that he finished 40th in receiving yards is an indictment on the passing offense. Shakir is a really nice complementary piece and can be long term. He should have a bunch of years with production. If they can get his Average Depth of Target up, he can be really dangerous. 1 1 Quote

Oh no doubt!! He’s definitely not Batman. He’s a slot that’s good with the ball in his hands. He’s a role player, but a good one. He should be a 3rd or 4th option on offense (including the RB). Shakir is a guy that will be dependable and run after the catch. He’s not a guy that can take over the game on his own. He’s a great role player. All championship teams have elite role players. 1 Quote
The Firebaugh Kid Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago The Worthy/Keon argument is relevant but the real argument should be about McConkey. He may be the best in this class. 1 Quote

As it stands, I’d take Rice, Brown and Worthy as a top 3 for Allen. Only concern would be how Rice looks post-injury. We currently have Shakir, Coleman and Samuel. Unless Samuel plans on not being injured for once in his life and Keon remembers how to play football after Poyer hit him, that potential KC trio clears ours by a mile. Also, we require our WR’s to run block, so it’s a different scheme, nonetheless… We NEED more talent at WR than we had last year. Allen/Brady did what they could but we had obvious limitations on Offense that were exploited by Baltimore and KC in the Playoffs. Edited 15 hours ago by SCBills Quote
Buffalo Ballin Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Xavier Worthy looks great playing with one of the GOAT QBs Patrick Mahomes. Of course. Who woulda thunk it? Quote

All good, and agree about it being an indictment of this passing offense which this year was more take what the D gives you and spreads the ball around. Shakir is a product of our system in terms of depth of target and stuff because of how dangerous he has shown to be with the ball in his hands. They are using him on this short quick strikes almost as an extension of the run game, much how SF uses Deebo a lot. I think if you put Shakir in a more high volume role with someone like Rams or Lions who know how to really use a guy like him, he would be an automatic 1000+ yard guy and wouldn't surprise me to see him put up several 1200+ yard seasons in a role like that. Im just glad we got him here for the next 4 years on a good deal for him and the Bills because he has been our most trusted and reliable pass catcher who has the trust and great rapport from Allen. I still like Keon despite never quite getting back to where he was before the injury. And I think both him and Shakir will only benefit by adding someone who can be a threat downfield. Quote

Just to be clear...Keon Coleman played 4 less games than Worthy and started 5 less games. Bills also set an NFL record for most wins by 20+ or more (believe it was 7) to where Allen and the offense took off the 4th quarter and even most the 2nd half of a couple games. Keon plays for a defensive HC. Worthy plays for one of the best offensive minds in history with a QB considered in the GOAT conversations already before he is 30. YET - Worthy only had 82 more yards on the season and 2 more TD's as a reciever. 4 more games...5 more games started...only 82 more receiving yards and 2 more TD's. Keon 19.2 yards per catch. Worthy 10.8 yards per catch. With Keon, Allen had his best season as a pro and won MVP. With Worthy as a season long starter, Mahomes had his worst season as a pro. What you are doing is carefully being sure to add the "postseason" because Worthy got a huge stat boost in the SB down 34-0 with a bunch of garbage time stats that make it look like he did more than he really did. The reality is that Worthy showed who he was, a complimentary piece more suited for as more of a specialty player than a lead target...at least so far. And that is not what the Bills needed during the draft, and even if we redrafted I would bet money our pick still isn't Worthy, nor should it be. Quote
JaCrispy Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Beane blew it when the opportunity was there…period… How do you say all offseason the offense needs more speed and then draft the slowest wr in the draft? Now the Bills are back in the same position as last year because we STILL need speed at wr because Beane made the wrong pick… Talk about spinning your wheels…no wonder the Bills are always a day late and a dollar short… Edited 14 hours ago by JaCrispy 1 1 Quote
