I’m loving the fact that Beane and McD have realized that their defensive philosophy is not working against the Chiefs.    They are bringing in coaches with different skill sets than in previous years.

That's what it sounds like, it did also feel like teams had gotten more and more comfortable attacking our zone coverage.

But we don’t have the personnel DB’s to run this, I’m expecting the Bills get a quality CB in FA and a draft choice this off season.   And I do think they are going to have a run at it for Garrett.   This should be a very attractive place for him to come and play.

He's much better in man vs in zone.  I still think he's a liability

Maybe they could come up with a cool nickname for Elam so he won't keep getting called for PI?

Smoke and mirrors.  Go hire a real DC with a defensive philosophy.  He will play the same Mr. Softie D but with different people to blame.  He has to keep the heat off himself

Could be.   No matter what defense we trotted out against the Chiefs or Bengals for that matter, our defense was always outclassed.

 

They need to inject fresh ideas, looks and schemes.   But they don’t have the personnel to run that.

 

They have to get another quality corner opposite side Benford, another safety that is a level above Rapp or Bishop and another quality pass rusher.

Elam is completely lost at this point. Does nothing well. He’s going to have to have an incredible offseason to even make the training camp roster.

 

He was so bad in man vs the Chiefs that I don’t see how they could feel confident with him as a top 4 CB next year.

I disagree, I get it that’s what the scouting reports said of him coming out but he hasn’t been a great man corner since he was a sophomore in college

Hopefully we find out when he is on another team. The absolutely cannot bring him back.
