Our defense can't be a revolving door.  And we've been top 5 and then suffered critical injuries.

 

But even those seasons, our DL was not physical and secondary way too slow.  Same issue every year.  If that's on Coach or Beane, which I'd say Beane, either way something has to be done about both issues.

 

At some point Beane has to be accountable for fielding a talented defense.  Our offense shouldn't be counted on to be perfect.  We basically missed a few key opportunities on offense this past game.  Not saying we shouldn't upgrade a boundary WR, but that isn't the issue.

 

I know the defense hasn't been close to good enough, and that falls on Beane and McDermott both. But we are ridiculously far away from fielding a defense like Philly's. Like 10 players away. I don't see any way that happens any time soon. The offense is close. We're 1-2 players away from closing the deal against KC in each of our past two playoff defeats. So that's my point. Not that we should ignore the defense entirely, but that the path to glory is still much easier to realize through offensive investments than defensive investments.

Did you miss the rest of what I said or chose to ignore it?  We're already scoring 30 points a game.  Thinking you can just score another 10 and that's going to fix not fixing the defense is no better an answer than saying we need to fix the defense.  Sometimes answers are not easy and what you want to hear.  Sometimes they are complicated and not what you want to hear.  I don't know how they will do it.  I could ramble on with my thoughts, but clearly it's the defense that NEEDS to get better.  The offense essentially as good as you are going to get against SB  worthy teams.  You might as well say we need to get lucky because it's probably the same chances of scoring 40 a game in the playoffs against Spags.

Barkley has been a non factor in this drubbing.  What a beating.  Patty pretty much lost it with those two reckless interceptikns in the first half.

I wonder if all the negative ref talk and chatter about the games being rigged had any impact on KC. I mean, they were fielding questions about it during media days.

Maybe the coaches are telling the scouts what they're looking for.. and it's not translating.. maybe they need to have them look for different types of players at the defensive line

 

 

Maybe, just maybe, they should stop drafting in the early rounds based on potential, and instead draft actual football players that have produced in big college programs.  The majority of wasted high picks IMO have been them ignoring high production players out of college for those with bigger measurables and future potential.  At some point you need to just draft solid football players.  Pretty simple really, but Beane and McD have indeed crapped the bed in the early rounds of the draft on D.

Philly’s coordinators were ready for this game. Pretty close to perfect on both sides. No one was beating them today.

Your not wrong.  It's like playoff football they stop calling everything and let the players play.  Letting posters post? Think I'm venting a bit.  Been a long season and this is an unsatisfying end.
