sven233 Posted yesterday at 05:26 PM Posted yesterday at 05:26 PM He and his Special Teams unit have been awful for years now. Why it took this long is baffling in a lot of ways. I mean, it is just Special Teams and in this day and age, they have largely been removed from the game because of rule changes, etc for most teams. But, for whatever reason, this guy and our unit seemed to find a way in their limited opportunities to make at least 1 terrible play a game that hurt us, sometimes badly. So, for him to be out is great news. Hopefully we can get someone in here from the outside that can fix Bass and can teach Martin, if he's back, how to get a punt off without taking a calendar year to do so. Good riddance. Quote
RiotAct Posted yesterday at 05:26 PM Posted yesterday at 05:26 PM Good riddance! I guess McD showing the utmost confidence in him during his end-of-season press conference last week was the kiss of death 😂 3 Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted yesterday at 05:28 PM Posted yesterday at 05:28 PM We are starting to circle in on the real problems, now let’s bring in another guy that can possibly take control of the Defensive narrative and slowly push the old guard further and further away. The players are not the problem. Jim Schwartz, Dick Labeau, Wade Phillips (idk I’m just spitballing) would have THIS defense lights out. It’s the coaching. STs was also terrible. It barely matters in 2025 but good. Move on and get better. 1 Quote

MPL Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM (edited) Just hire someone who understands that 10, 11, and 12 are different numbers. Edited yesterday at 05:30 PM by MPL made it funnier. 10 2 1 Quote

There's no way he comes back to work the crazy hours of an NFL coach. But he'd be pretty darn good if he did. Quote
Toledo Bill Posted yesterday at 05:36 PM Posted yesterday at 05:36 PM Ridiculous it took this long. Enough of accepting mediocrity and poor performance. 3 Quote

Joe Buscaglia on the show Leading the Charge one week...said that McD and Smiley didn't see eye-to-eye and he expected he would be gone post season. McD never throws anyone under the bus to the press, so either he had in mind post season to make the move and just didn't want to put it out there, or in his post season meeting with him, the differences were still pronounced and he realized he needed to make the change. 2 1 Quote

Say what you will about him, but McDermott usually makes good decisions about his staff. When there’s a unit that struggles badly, he almost always moves on from that assistant. 2017 - Rick Dennison 2018 - Danny Crossman/Juan Castillo 2021 - Bobby Johnson 2023 - Ken Dorsey 1 Quote

Coach Tuesday Posted yesterday at 05:45 PM Posted yesterday at 05:45 PM McD hasn’t yet gotten this hire right for some reason. They need to modernize their entire operation on Teams and quit clowning around with inexperienced hires. 1 1 Quote
