Earlier this week, Scott Bessent halted CFPB activities, and now all new funding to the agency is being halted per Russell Vought.

This has confused even some MAGA voters who have stated that the CFPB is a beneficial organization that’s put a lot of money back in people’s pockets. This includes MAGA writer Lee Fang of Twitter Files fame.
 

 

In 2024, SCOTUS ruled 7-2 that the CFPB was absolutely Constitutional, with Clarence Thomas writing the majority opinion.

Then, why are many MAGAs so against it? One major name against the CFPB is Brian Armstrong, founder of CoinBase who has been cited by CFPB many times for scamming his customers and locking them out of their accounts or dropping hidden fees on them. 
 

If it’s been ruled constitutional, and if it benefits American consumers overwhelmingly, why are MAGAs hell-bent on killing it?

With every one of these actions, people need to ask themselves "who wins?".  Follow the money...For most of us, the answer is not "me".  It's becoming blatantly obvious that much of the nation is comprised of imbeciles incapable of reason.

As I’ve heard quite often, both on here and in conservative media, MAGA voters are getting “exactly what they voted for.” Elections have consequences and if you voted for Trump/Elon, this is what you get.

Why don’t you just refer to the people you are concerned with rather than the all-encompassing MAGA that people like you use as a pejorative? 
 

I disagree with deep-sixing CFPB but am not apoplectic over it. There will always be things to disagree with coming out of Washington regardless of the party in charge. For instance, many people are vehemently disagreeing with putting government spending under scrutiny. How odd is that?

 

We’ll see how things develop. I understand that’s not as emotionally satisfying as taking a knee-jerk reaction.

On the whole, I’m quite fine with it. I have a distrust of the creeps that have been running Washington for decades. They all seem to come out of it rather wealthy, don’t they? That others are so terrified of added scrutiny tells me all I need to know. I wish I could say it’s surprising.

So now you voted in the super wealthy to enrich themselves.  Well done.  Maybe when MAGA-ZA is operational you can take a vacation there.  At a discounted rate.  With your Trump Bible in place of what the Gideons would leave.
