There was a stretch of several years during which nobody even debated who the best QB was because Favre was on a completely different level.  He won 3 consecutive MVPs and went to back to back Super Bowls win in one of them.

Johnny Unitas was certainly one of the best QB's of his time, but to see him at #1 makes me have to question if the criteria has changed a lot since then??  The rest of the names a the top are what I'd call more modern day QB's.

I am not implying that Unitas is #1. He is one of 11 QB's that I put (in no particular order) above Allen's career as of right now.

 

I believe Allen will be ranked higher than Unitas, Favre, and several more when he is all said and done

Yeah and now there a several every year.  If Allen played then he would be in the GOAT convo.

Agreed. Warner was amazing and, at his best, might even be top 10 in my book. 

This isn’t a list though of most accolades, it’s who was the better QB.  And Allen, as you said, is a better player than Favre.

I agree. Been saying it for about three years now.  He made some big strides this season, and I'm hoping for another jump in 2025.

But they’ll never be regarded as better because accolades certainly do matter.  
 

Who’s better, Mahomes or Allen?  I think Allen is.  I’m sure you do to.  But that’s not what matters most.  Showing that you can get the job done matters.

What still lags behind Mahomes ans Burrow, is his ability to hit the back foot and throw with anticipation.  Now we saw some tosses like that this year and they were beautiful.  That has to be more of the norm going forward.

It feels good to say this, and ability-wise, I believe it. The kid needs super bowls though… plain and simple.
