I remember feeling sorry for him with the crappy low budget rosters he had,  standing in front of the camera postgame declaring "It's very, very hard to win in this league," after another loss. Sad for his family. Seemed like a good dude and if Kyle Williams says it, it's good enough for me. RIP.

"We are so incredibly devastated to share the news that my dad has passed away," Kacy wrote on Facebook. "The past week has been one awful nightmare after another. What we thought was some early signs of memory issues turned quickly into cancer in his brain, specifically a tumor that was causing some very out of character behavior."

A scan found cancer in his lungs, liver and bones, and Kacy said the situation escalated so quickly her dad never knew what was going on nor was he in pain.

"The very best son, brother, friend, teammate, husband, father, coach, HUMAN that we were all so lucky to love," Kacy wrote.

Brain tumors suck.  You're either going to die very quickly if not found in time, or you'll last just long enough to start on your bucket list items.

There are plenty of guys that are good coaches that just inherit crap personnel.   My god the crap we had at QB during the drought it was a miracle we weren't picking top 5 consistently.   Just the thought of JP Losman or Edwards makes me shudder.

The biggest issue is we never bottomed out to be in position to get a top end QB prospect.

RIP Dick.

I think a lot of Bills fans were always upset with Jauron for his lack of urgency in game play, his awful game time decisions and his poor post press speeches........"we punted well".

At that time, we all wanted more than that, we wanted a HC who could get us over the hump, however, the lack of talent on the field was a huge obstacle for him and how he would pull out even 7 or 8 win seasons is astounding when you actually look back at it.

When you have a crap roster the strategy is to be cautious and hope you get a turnover. The reason McDermott is practically a riverboat gambler now is because the Bills are good.

Jauron was a class act and a great human. He was just a bad fit for the Bills in that era. Every one who played for him, loved him.

Not to take this off track but who was a good fit for the Bills of that era? Their roster was awful.

I saw one article that said it was after a “very short battle with cancer.”

RIP Coach Jauron

I have nothing bad to say about him as a person. From all accounts, he was a genuinely good human being.  As a coach, however, I absolutely hated the hiring from day one.  Does anyone remember the formula for continuous 7 -  9 seasons?  Great special teams play and play ultra conservative football to beat bad teams.  One year during his reign, we were near the absolute bottom in both offense and defense (30th and 30th if I recall).  Yet the team was, yep you guessed it, 7 - 9.  I suppose you could call that great coaching. I’m not sure what it was.

I'm pretty sure the over/under on Bills wins back in his 3 years was something like 5.5. And he delivered those thrilling 7-9s. Three in a row! If the Bills were going to sneak into the playoffs with that roster it was probably by playing the exact type of boring football he specialized in, and getting a few lucky bounces to steal another win or two. In retrospect, I'd take Jauronball over Chan, Marrone, and Rex any day.
