Spent too much time at Roswell years ago and they work miracles.  Nobody is questioning that medical research costs lots of money.  They’re just capping the amount that is spent on overhead to 15%.  By doing this, more money goes to the actual research.  How anyone has a problem with that is beyond me..

You should've specificied a bit more precisely to "(h)ow anyone that isn't in a position considered to be "overhead" at one of these reseasrch institutions has a problem with it ..." as pretty sure those people have a BIG problem with it.  😉

For the ignorant, cancer is basically a genetic disease. Whatever the cause-radiation,chemicals, random mutations, etc, it boils down to a change  in the DNA that removes the controls on genes that control the unrestricted growth of cells. Each type of cancer is a separate disease. Roswell Park is having some success in tailoring the treatment to individuals. That research takes $.

Absolutely.

The medical advances in cancer treatment have been immense. From simply cutting out tumors, to early chemo treatments that essentially poisoned the patient in hope that the cancer would be eradicated before the patient dies from the chemo itself, to more modern therapies that target the cancer cells only. If we ever do "cure" cancer it won't be a universal magic pill or treatment.

I highly recommend everyone adding this to their reading list:

One of the diehard trumpers/magadiots on my Facebook feed was posting some tripe about how Switzerland had banned mammograms and that Canada, Italy and others were about to follow suit.

I tend not to argue with people on FB or call them out for their stupid ***** (well some of the hardcore libs I will when they accuse Musk of not solving world hunger forever by lack of him donating 6B to UNICEF...) but I was in shock that I actually felt compelled to post a link that refuted such a nonsensical idea:

https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/switzerland-has-not-banned-mammograms-contrary-online-claims-2025-02-20/

The dem/lib crowd has had their share of stupidity but damn, the trumpers are giving them a run for their money these days.
