JDHillFan Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) I sincerely thought the crazies broken by Trump would have moderated a bit upon his return. Clearly, I was very, very wrong. Maybe in the real world they have. In the world of Roundy, Redhawk, nedboi, highlander, and giveheadtoleonlett it’s absolutely on fire right now. Fun to see unfold. Very satisfying. edit - I noticed I left Tibs out. I guess it’s because he seems moderately sane in comparison to the brokenness of those mentioned. Who would have thought? Roundybout Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Why should we not be upset about the drastic hack-and-slash approach being done to our American institutions? What is the plan here? What replaces them? What is the end goal? 1 1

Many people feel the same about Washington DC. Enough to turn your party out completely. You generally like to pound a theme into the ground each day. See flag code, eggs, etc. Is today the day for “American institutions”? Should be fun. You are a government employee and have spent an incredible amount of time here during working hours and you wonder why people take issue with government waste. Funny. 1

And yet the Leftnuts are kicking, screeching, pearl-clutching and threatening to demonstrate as long as the temperatures aren't too low. I think you secretly understand where all this wasted money is going. Are you getting anyone a Politico Pro subscription for Valentine's Day?

You’re really amazing at ignoring someone’s point. Socrates is weeping somewhere. If Trump guts 50% of the NOAA workforce, for example, what replaces it? The demand for data remains. Musk’s team is already lying about what kind of access they have in the treasury department’s coffers. Trump is demanding they pause authorized payments to various agencies. This is illegal. Just now, Albwan said: lol ongoing comedy skit Simple answer. Let’s hear it.

Though you are unwilling to believe it, there is in fact bloat and waste in government. I would have to know about the 50% being gutted. Is it older workers that can be replaced by younger cheaper people? People with poor performance? Are they administration people? Do they add value? you want to believe because NOAA employees 12,000 people that they actually need 12,000 people to achieve their mission. Maybe they do.

And therein lies the problem - there is absolutely no plan for any of these agencies beyond cuts. No policy map, nothing. They’re twisting in the wind. If they REALLY wanted to go after bloat, why not go after the Department of Defense?

Do you truly believe there’s not going to be a top down review at the Pentagon? Good heavens kid. It’s a place that has failed eight audits in a row and can’t account for hundreds of millions of dollars. Let’s employ a tiny bit of patience here.

Id think if you’d seriously want to go after government waste, you’d go after the low-hanging fruit and not after Catholic Relief Organization, hmm?

Iraqi Sesame Street and assorted LGBTQ2SIA+ causes around the world might be considered low hanging fruit. I guess we’ll see. In the meantime, young progressives will continue to rage FOR the machine. An interesting dynamic. do you believe there will be a thorough review of the pentagon? I do.

The fact of the matter is that USAID has been allocated money by Congress and it must be spent. Elon and his army of college dropouts cannot change this without legislation.

The nerd geniuses are really under your skin aren’t they? The world needs civil servants, I think. Just do your best every day and all will be well.

I would prefer the “nerd geniuses” not have write access to the treasury code.
