As I said in that very same post I edited right after I posted the question for you... (and ironically, thank you for supporting my point in your own post):

Do you watch this kid play while you sit on your couch eating chops and drinking beer every week?

There are players in the NFL who don't really care much about the fanbase and maybe care more about money and fame...

I'm sorry but Allen is a rare breed of player who is basically voluntarily carrying the weight of an entire fanbase and the history of an entire team on his back.

If you think that's a weird take go eat more chips and drink more beer.

And I'll just repost:

Yes. See above

Actually, I was eating chips at tailgates and going to 12 games this year. I basically am single handedly paying Allen’s salary!

you could have said “I hope you got the Super Bowl you worked so hard for” but saying he deserves it more than fans (or Dawkins or Milano (and all his injuries) or McDermott, etc.) was just a silly comment. But I guess I root for the Bills and not just one player (even if that player is amazing).

Something that's dawned on me is that the MVP discussion is emblematic of the terrible shape this country is in. It's downright shocking when you really think about it. 50 randomly selected journalists vote on a completely subjective award, and it's devolved into shouting matches over race, literal death threats, grown men having an online meltdown for days on end. Social media I think has ruined the social fabric of the country, maybe permanently.

I would gladly return to a time without Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Only Fans, Tik Tok, Snapchat, and other derivatives (although I loved Myspace). I miss the days where “content creator” wasn’t a full time job, online prostitution didn’t exist (at least in its current form), online bullying wasn’t possible, and AI deepfakes & mass misinformation weren’t spreading like wildfires. Definitely a different world than it was in the year 2000.

The worst was listening to Orlovsky explain himself as he educated the buffoons on the set as to what the award is: “Most valuable”.  Then listening to foxworth and other guy (didn’t know who it was, I listened in the car) aft as if that’s just semantics.  As if there can’t actually a difference between 1st team all pro and MVP.  Funny how they didn’t bring up Lamar winning last year, while CLEARLY not having the best season, rather just winning the award for being the QB for a #1 seed.

imagine a world in which Lamar Jackson’s resume includes 3 MVPS while Josh’s resume includes 0.

I wonder what percent of the nfl execs would take Lamar over Josh.  I’d think maybe 20% if I’m being gracious

You're being way to gracious. Unless King Henry was included I doubt a single NFL exec takes Jackson over Allen today.

Reverse the stats and EVERYONE on this board would be saying that Allen got robbed.

Let's keep it real.

This is incomplete.  If you reversed the stats and the underlining situations in Baltimore & Buffalo remained the same then Allen would have been a unanimous MVP pick.

What are these "underlining situations" you speak of?

It's sounds to me that Bills fans are still complaining as if Josh didn't win. We're all impressed how humble Josh has been and yet nit picking everyone who didn't vote for him.

I called it.  I knew this would happen.  Instead of enjoying the moment, they're choosing to remain miserable because the masses aren't falling to their knees over Josh.

I seriously wonder if this fanbase is equipped to handle the success of a New England or KC?  Would just make them more intolerable?

Josh won MVP in maybe the most contested MVP race ever.  Quit your crying and take the W.

Pretty much what you said, yes. I get the inconsistencies in the voters rational. I do. But he won!  Be humble. Step away from the keyboard and enjoy the accolade.

Nah.  History just repeats itself.   Dudes were getting killed in bars by old timey guns with lead ball ammunition in the early 1900's arguing over who was the MVP in baseball.  And that was when these people only READ about the players and didn't have informed opinions from seeing them. A few years later they were wearing masks and social distancing.   The concept that anything has changed.....particularly for the worse....... is so wrong it's hard to even take those opinions seriously.   Recency bias just abounds.

My hope is that this season kicked the door down.  It should never be automatic that First team All Pro QB is always the MVP.  And that's what some folks on these morning sports shows think...that it should always be that way.

Maybe next season Allen or Burrow gets awarded First Team All Pro because they have ridiculous stats... but Jayden Daniels with lesser stats leads the Commanders to 14 wins and wins the MVP.  I mean gimme a break, this not hard to understand how one accolade means something different vs another.

If you read a transcript of Florio's opinion on it (not linking it here), the viewpoint he expresses, is essentially that it should always be that way.

And I "get" that's one viewpoint: the all-pro QB is the best QB, and isn't the best QB automatically the most valuable?  How can it be otherwise?

The counterpoint of course, is that "best QB" (especially judged from a statistical perspective) isn't necessarily the guy who is the most critical to his winning team's success.  Of course, this is the argument that was raised last season, when Allen arguably had a better statistical year than Jackson by some of metrics: that MVP is not about "best statistics", it's about The Man, the guy who elevates the team.  It's pretty clear this year, Jackson had a great statistical season but opposing defenses were very much game planning for Henry, as well

Eh.  This isn't the time or place, but maybe Google the term "Yellow Journalism".  What I think happens is that balancing strategies lag technology.  Then society adjusts.  Maybe I'm wrong.  But like I said, not the time and place here.

It amplifies our worst thoughts and our worst (and loudest) voices. And most sinisterly, the algorithms are specifically designed to feed us content that entrenches our positions and encourages us to hate pretty much everyone outside of our little tribal bubbles.  Absolute scourge on humanity.

Ravens fans saying last season that he deserved it with inferior stats.

Ravens fans complaining about Jackson not getting it with better stats (even though Allen sat out 2-3 games worth of quarters and didn't stat pad like Jackson).

What happens when next year Allen has better stats and a better season?  They going to complain about it not being called the Jackson award?

The fact is, Allen has deserved this award multiple times already and for this to be his first one is pretty crazy.  This should have probably been at least his second.  Regardless, now that he has the regular season MVP, it's time to go win the Super Bowl MVP and hoist the Lombardi next season.  As soon as he does that, he cements himself as one of the all time best to ever do it.  He's on his way to doing that already with the records he keeps setting, but man.....one Lombardi for this city and he can be talked about as one of the best ever.

True.  Whenever something pissed me off before this whole internet fad I would just B word about it to my next store neighbor Mike.  He'd cool me off with a six pack.  Now I have the ability to connect with thousands of people I don't know who have the same opinions I do and it frustrates me more.  I miss just talking to Mike.
