I missed this before.  Just watched the presentations of the nominees and announcement of the winner on YouTube

As Josh is coming up the stairs behind him, is that D Dawk turning to block the other presenters for Josh?

LOL

Allen also collected a cool $1.5 million dollars for winning MVP as well...

Outside of winning the Super Bowl hard to picture a better year he could have had...

Gets engaged, sets franchise records and NFL records in numerous categories, wins MVP, banks $1.5 million bonus.

It seems like a made for TV debate since James Jones was a big Allen backer most of the season.  Even before the season he said if Allen gets the Bills to the playoffs he should be awarded the MVP.  And he did James! lol

All 4 of the Speak gang...Playmaker, Joy Taylor,  Paul Pierce and even Bills hater Keyshawn all agreed that Josh deserved this award.  Didn't expect that today.

Unfortunately, SEVERAL AP voters have felt the need to defend/explain their Josh pick since last night, because they're all receiving a bunch of backlash and mockery from everyone from Dominique Foxworth on ESPN's Get Up, to Mike Florio of PFT, and on and on.

As far as I can tell, the vast majority of AP voters take their job very seriously, and several of them have mentioned poring over multiple games and All-22 and agonizing over their decisions. Only for people who DON'T do that (like Foxworth and Florio) to act holier than though and cast aspersions on anyone who dared to have a different opinion than them.

The discourse throughout this MVP race was highly toxic, and it continues to be so. I'm glad the race is over and Josh won, but that doesn't mean the chuckleheads are gonna back off their ill-informed stances or sophomoric insults.

jmo, but I don’t think Foxworth can read..🤷‍♂️

I previously congratulated 17.

While a prestigious award, really I don’t much think/care about it. And all of us, including Josh, would substitute it for playing today and holding a Lombardi.

However, it suddenly occurred to me, that it can’t hurt in the pursuit of FA stars, to have the League’s MVP as your drawing card. As in, THAT guy is gonna take me to the promised land with him.

It will be the talk throughout the 2025 Season! Let’s get the MVP an SB now.

I listened to a few that objected to Allen winning the MVP and their argument was more or less Jackson had better stats. So if that's the criteria we don't need voters. Just set the stat criteria and run the numbers on all players and award the MVP to the player the computer spits out.

But the award is not just for stats. It's not for Most productive Player. Its for value. Value to his team. Value to the league. Who has more than Josh this season?

A high school kid no college wanted to NFL 1st round selection, to NFL MVP. What better story is there than that. How many games do the Bils win without Allen? That's value. As for value to the league, who put more eyeballs on prime time games with expectations of great play and sports entertainment and did not disappoint. Thst's MVP.

The worst was listening to Orlovsky explain himself as he educated the buffoons on the set as to what the award is: “Most valuable”.  Then listening to foxworth and other guy (didn’t know who it was, I listened in the car) aft as if that’s just semantics.  As if there can’t actually a difference between 1st team all pro and MVP.  Funny how they didn’t bring up Lamar winning last year, while CLEARLY not having the best season, rather just winning the award for being the QB for a #1 seed.

imagine a world in which Lamar Jackson’s resume includes 3 MVPS while Josh’s resume includes 0.

I wonder what percent of the nfl execs would take Lamar over Josh.  I’d think maybe 20% if I’m being gracious

With all due respect to my man-crush Josh, Maximus Decimus Meridius had a better story.

Just saw an interview with Carucci - he gave props to Bills PR dept for the quality of the 'fact sheet' that teams send out to the voters - esp how it might have educated voters not as familiar with Josh's accomplishments.  Also interestingly said he gave them feedback on things they could add or call attention to

Next we're going to hear screaming from Ravens fans about "tampering" because Carucci is a voter. :D

Screeching Mina Kimes is always anti-Josh by default.

I love how these people don't vote for any Bills for All-Pro or Pro Bowl, and then turn around and say "they're actually better than you think" to justify their Lamar MVP vote.  Next year I bet we get a whole passel of AP/PB guys so they can go back to voting for Lamar.
