stevewin Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It's funny on the shows how some talking heads are still ignorant how the voting process works - have heard multiple say "I would have been OK with co-mvps" when that is virtually impossible with the way the vote is done now with the ranking 1-5. Also Stephen A talking about 300-something votes like there were 300 voters. After all the weeks of 'debate' how can they still not know how the voting works? Get Up convo was mostly how could you vote one person for MVP and another for 1st Team All Pro - but funny it is never slanted as outrage that Josh wasn't 1st Team all Pro. Also - Orlovsky tried to explain the two awards can mean different things and pro-Lamar heads tried to counter with stats - to which he countered if it was just stats only you wouldn't need voters 1 Quote

Hes great on field, he stays clean off the field, hes marketable, hes media polished in a safe but never boring way, got the Hollywood girlfriend. Hes a star. Whenever his playing days are done, hopefully 20 years from now, the networks will be fighting over him. He gives off a vibe you don't get too often with such a superstar. While he has the money, the celebrity fiance, and is at the top of the country's biggest entertainment industry... he also seems so authentic. His speech he seemed very humble and said he is grateful for and looks up to the other nominees. Thanked those in the organization, said he loves his teammates and the lockerroom, and spent time on his family... and they showed his dad crying. Through the speech, Allen seemed a touch nervous, fighting back tears, and his voice was quivering a little bit. It made him feel like a normal person. There was no phoniness or cool fronts (like Burrow puts up). It wasn't just pr veneer You also had Dawkins up there who seemed happier than anybody, which is telling. Being a middle-aged adult now, I never thought there would be an athlete I would put on the same pedestal I used to put Pat LaFontaine on as a kid. Josh Allen exceeds that. I almost want him to achieve a Lombardi as much as I do the Bills. *I know a family who had a sick child. Josh Allen reached out for the kid (or visa versa) and did his thing. Tragically the kid didn't make it through his most recent battle. A member of the family was at an event and shook Allen's hand, thanked him, and gave him an update. Allen remembered the kid and had tears in his eyes as he hugged the family member and looked leveled (I saw pictures). Edited 2 hours ago by May Day 10 5 2 2 1 Quote

He gets the cover of Madden for the 2023 season and NFL MVP for the 2024 season, so the only thing left is an "I'm going to Disney World" commercial next season. . . Seeing as his family is in Cali, it may be DisneyLand for him. 1 Quote

thronethinker Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Glad Allen won, but man the NFL is really bad at productions that are not Directly related to a game or draft day. Even the Pro Bowl is an awful production on nearly every level. NFL network, uggh as well. Edited 2 hours ago by thronethinker 1 Quote

Not a small task, especially given his team had an outstanding regular season record given the lack of talent expressed by many. It's not at all a bad argument for an MVP! 1 1 Quote

The NFL has admitted they are not good at production which is why they have stopped trying to do games themselves and have scaled back all of the shows. I thought it was fine for what little production they do now. I wish all the award shows would stick to a time window. Allen’s speech was a perfect performance. Did his A-list actress fiance’ proud. 1 Quote

I knew a Russian-Jewish girl who's name was Anastasia Lippschitz. So Nastya Lippschitz. Highly unfortunate name in the English-speaking world. How can he be so outraged about Lamar not getting the MVP when, in his own words, he said Allen should have gotten MVP last year? So, in that case, why is he upset?? I agree about the MVP and 1st Team All Pro. Josh should have gotten both. There is an unhealthy pro Lamar, anti-Josh sentiment at ESPN and that's what they want, I guess. The pro Lamar slant has an obvious reason, one that people don't say out loud, but it's obvious. It falls in line with the general culture at ESPN. Dan Orlovsky is about the only person on there giving somewhat reasonable takes and he has to put up with getting ambushed by the other members? Laughable. They really came after Orlovsky and made the comment a few times "just say what you are really thinking". What was that supposed to mean? I guess i should stop here because each time I mention something about this today my post gets mysteriously deleted without warning. 1 2 Quote
