The players absolutely know if they are getting an award and that way they can make arrangements for family, etc. to attend. I don't blame Lamar for not showing up. Almost all the prominent players who went, won something. Saquon had a recorded speech for OPOY so obviously he knew well in advance. The moment Josh won, the Bills released a 5-minute video highlighting his work at Children's hospital and mentioning the MVP. They all knew. 4 Quote

Virgil Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Tom Brady voted for Lamar. I was honestly surprised by this, because Brady tries to come off as an Allen supporter and friend. Just in case you needed another reason to have Brady go ***** himself 4 3 1 Quote

Even if they dont come right out and say it (which they still might) they at least give an indication. I'm sure his agent got a call that was like "Josh should definitely make it to the ceremony, and he should bring anyone who is close to him that he would like to celebrate with, wink-wink, nudge-nudge". And Lamar's agent got a call like "He's welcome to attend, but it's fine if Lamar is hanging out in Florida the night of the ceremony". I think they straight up tell the players the results. That’s why Allen showed up with an entourage and they sat him right in the center of the front row. You think an NFL player is going to write an acceptance speech if they don’t know for sure they are going to win? Some of these guys can barely write a tweet. 1 4 Quote
bigduke6 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago feels like a consolation prize at this point. im happy for Josh, he deserves it, had a hell of a season, of which not much was expected tbh. dont want to rain on his parade, or the fans who really care about this. media just makes this feel like nobody deserves it except SB winners. how can you be MVP without being offensive player of the year? or a first team All Pro? just weird. 1 Quote

I get what you are saying about the consolation prize. It's definitely bitter sweet. For the bold, All-Pro and MVP are very different awards. I think the voters got it perfectly correct this year. Lamar has the better stats this season so he gets All-Pro. Josh had the better story all around, and meant more to his team since he did not have the same level of supporting cast as Lamar. That makes him the most valuable individual player. Just now, HereComesTheReignAgain said: So she's a TBD member? 2 2 Quote

I kind of wondered the same thing as throughout the night no sightings of Jackson. To me that was a hint that Allan won the award. Is there some site that lists the voting results, by person?? Quote
tomur67 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Well earned. Along with Josh's parents, I had tears of joy streaming down my face as Josh made his acceptance speech. Quote

Josh should have been 1st team All Pro. The consolation prize was handed out to Barkley, if anything. Quote

I think offensive player of the year and all pro are more stats based than mvp and the voters seemed to echo that. there has to be some distinction or why have two different awards for all pro and mvp? They’re both AP awards Quote

Well deserved is right. I don't know who the true MVP was this season. I can make the argument for Lamar, Josh, and Saquon. I don't know if Josh should have won it last year, but I can certainly make the argument. What matters over the long run is that the right players get the MVP once or twice or three times. The Bradys, Mahomes, Allens, Jacksons. I mean, those guys are super players, exceptional, and they deserve to be recognized. Allen finally got one, and he deserves one or two more along the way. 3 1 1 Quote

Because all pro is based on Stats, MVP shouldn't be. Allen earned it. This team would be **** if we didn't have him, and how many times this year did he flat out will us to win? We were not supposed to do any better than 3rd in our own division, but Josh got us there. 1 minute ago, Shaw66 said: Well deserved is right. I don't know who the true MVP was this season. Process Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) To be honest I'm not buying the whole "there's a difference between all pro and MVP." History tells us there isn't. Allen should have won both. Voters took the easy way out and were afraid to not give Lamar something. Edited 4 hours ago by Process 3 Quote
