I think getting a new set of eyes on the Defense is absolutely in order... have no idea if he is the one... I dont really know him... but I am with you on your premise.. at least they know they have a problem... that is the first step... so color me encouraged. Problem ? or continuous improvement mindset. One thing I do appreciate about McD is he is always moving forward with his Coaches. I call this a good thing , and the Dline assistant as well. Thanks Terry P for supporting this Quote

I never liked it but they were erasers back there. I think McDermotts defense is the only reason we haven’t and can’t win a superbowl. But for a bit, our Safeties were so incredible…that it made it look decent. It’s definitely been exposed and needs to be overhauled Quote

Thanks Terry P for supporting this You can call it euphemistaclly what you like problem, continuous improvement, pre goal, opportunity to improve et al... defense isn't good enough and bringing a new set of eyes in in my opinion is very positive Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago McD keeps saying the ball comes out too quick with these elite QBs to get any pass rush. A switch to tighter man coverage may be a way to get them to hold onto the ball longer. Quote

He was defensive line coach with the Saints and they had top units during those years. He was DC for Atlanta for a year and they generated a lot of pressure. Also his man to man usage when he was DC the past two years is one of the higher ones in the league. He is known to play a lot of DB’s and LB’s crowded to the line with lots of disguising. Quote
GolfandBills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago He sounds pretty well regarded around the league. Looks like a good move adding him to our staff Quote
TBBills Fan Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I like it. I do admit, this is similar to what we did on offense. Dorsey finished up year one, we bring in Joe Brady to add to the room. Smart move. More knowledge, a bit of a message to the incumbent and a guy that can step in it it goes to ***** Quote
DJB Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) The NFL is constantly evolving. Our 2 deep safety look while playing zone worked for a while. And teams moved to a more zone look Now offense basically just dump the ball out as fast as possible which severely negates a zone defense. Man coverage is less susceptible to quick throws . Im glad we are moving to a more man coverage it also helps with double coverage looks as well which will help focus our D in on key players on the opposing teams . It also helps stopping so many “why the hell is Kelce so uncovered” moments where we were all pulling our hair out. You know what else a zone defense is susceptible to? Screens. Playing man will help alleviate that as well and I’m glad because I’m really tired of getting killed like that Edited 1 hour ago by DJB Quote
f0neguy Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago If the Bills are possibly considering going to more man coverage does that mean Elam sticks around? That’s supposed to be one of his strengths. Quote
