That's true. I can't remember but has McDermott ever brought in an established outsider on his side of the football that he didn't really know?

Are these recent hires defensively , outside the usual McDermott/zone coaching tree?

 

If so that points to a positive sign that McDermott is embracing more of a CEO role and letting the staff do more the hands on coaching 

 

Which in my opinion is needed and beneficial

God I hope McDermott has finally learned his lesson.  His defensive scheme just doesn't work against the elite teams.  Time for a change.

Like the players, and the coaches for that matter, schemes can evolve over time. It’s not like it will be wholesale change, but I think we will adapt. You have to keep adapting.

People probably won’t like this but the Bills bolstering their DL/pass rush coaching leads me to believe they’re bringing in some young talent that will need coaching. Bills are likely to draft an edge and DT very high in the draft.

side note to the discussion here but.

 

I wonder if Nielsen will have a positive report on Jaguars Safety Andre Cisco.  He is an undrafted free agent and played at SU.  A 3 some of Rapp, Bishop, Cisco could be a good one.  I mean its not a 3 some as good as like one with Tiffani Thiessen and Cindy Crawford...but it could be pretty good.  Plus I guess add in Cam Lewis.

 

He is a veteran that will have some idea of playing in buffalo and living in the climate, also a NY guy from Long Island.

 

Getting a vet in that wont break the bank to go with Rapp and Bishop could maybe give them more options on draft day.  Not that he or bishop or rapp should ever stop them from drafting a true difference maker if one is there when they pick in the top 100.

I don't think this is optimal. You're current DC has lost a vote of confidence.  Now you bring in someone with more experience. Who's in charge? Is the new guy going to step all over the current one. This doesn't seem like a great working dynamic.

Why would someone not like that? It's where the talent is in this draft.

Kromer has been outstanding as OL coach, but if the DLine keeps underperforming, time to also look at the coaching

 

And why would this hire signify Rasul Douglas is gone? I don't think getting rid of your best CB will help any coaches

I think it's time to let Douglas walk. We can do better in Free Agency for not that much more than what it would cost to keep Douglas.
