BuffaloBaumer Posted Wednesday at 05:23 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:23 PM I am ready to go all-in LA Rams style and go for Super Bowl or bust next year. Overpay for Miles if you have to, that type of player is not going to be available again. 2 2 1 Quote
BullBuchanan Posted Wednesday at 05:25 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:25 PM Are you going to trade for 3 starting defensive linemen, 2 starting safeties, 1 starting CB (at least) and first man in on the outside?, and a #1 WR? If not, then don't bother, because that's how far away we are from "winning this thing". 1 1 2 Quote
BearNorth Posted Wednesday at 05:44 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:44 PM With the Salary Cap and a top 5 QB who is currently being paid about 1/5 of your cap, you have to staff parts of your roster with cost-controlled draft picks and UDFA. 10 of the 53 at season end were rookies. Quote
Logic Posted Wednesday at 05:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:48 PM Fine with it. Specifically, using 1st and 2nd round pick(s) to acquire marquee players. I (and many others) have been saying for several offseasons now that Josh doesn't have enough difference makers around him. McDermott said as much in his end-of-season presser. Given the Beane's mediocre recent track record with 1st and 2nd round picks anyway, I'm fine with using them to acquire a star veteran (Garrett, Crosby, etc) instead. You can still use your mid and late round picks (which Beane seems better at turning into good players anyway) for depth. Those premium picks, though? If you can turn them into a star player and difference maker, you do it. 3 2 Quote

Might as well do something similar the way Rams did and go all out at this point and, the Rams, while devoid of 1st, still drafted well later and completely redid their defense. So, not a huge issue what they did! 4 hours ago, CoudyBills said: All I have read for the past few months is how this team is great, but McDermott is holding them back. So now the solution is to trade away the future for some stars that McDermott will fail? Is McDermott the problem or is his roster incapable? The madden GMs and high school football coaches here are losing their minds. get players so good that McD's awful schemes can't hold the team back. 1 Quote

In the beginning, i believed in the FO strategy of building through the draft, however, it's not really working for us, so might as well try something else and kick the tires on a new strategy. IMHO “Nearing their 30’s”? The Bills signed Von Miller the same month he turned 33 and gave him guarantees into his age 35 season. Trading for or signing a 28 or 29 year old to a contract with 2+ or 3 seasons of guarantees is vastly different (unless it’s a RB). 5 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted Wednesday at 06:49 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:49 PM I don’t think you cant do that with our cap situation anyways. If we want to give up a pick or two this year and one next year for a player that we deem worthy of trading for like a Crosby then I am okay giving up a 2 and a 5 this year and a 2 next year. If we have to give up the 1 this year than lower it to a 3rd next year. People tend to overvalue cost but if I can get a Crosby for 3 picks that would leave us 8 this year and 5 next year but we also will get a couple comp picks back to get us back up to 7 1 Quote

I didn't say Von was nearing his 30's, son........i said that the FO might reconsider making any moves for a player nearing their 30's as they saw that a 30+ player was trash..........much like what you've written here. Is that your attempt at a save, junior? It makes no sense. You’re using the example of bringing in a 33 year old on a contract that binds him to the Bills through age 35 as a reason not to bring in a player in their late 20s on any contract? That doesn’t leave many players to choose from, especially decent ones. Lots of players are highly productive into their early 30s. Quote

wppete Posted Wednesday at 07:39 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:39 PM Beane has missed on alot of picks. Kir Elam, Keon Coleman were both a waste of 1st round picks. I would happily trade 2 first round picks for a guy like Myles Garette if we continue to miss on 1st round draft picks. 2 1 1 Quote
Sestak4ever Posted Wednesday at 07:40 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:40 PM Definitely at this point in Josh’s career. You draft for the future. You trade for today. 2 2 2 Quote

I really hope you're wrong about Coleman. He didn't look right after the injury and it's concerning. I am hopeful but I'm not sure beane can just count on him taking a big step forward. I don't think he sucks or anything like that but it's possible that maybe he's just a big play target number 3 type wr. And that's not enough for a top pick. I was extremely disappointed in him and Kincaid in the playoffs. Basically gave us nothing dynamic That has to change As for Elam. I was an Elam truther and was wrong. It's time to move on. I think his confidence is gone. That pick still pisses me off in contrast to kc getting McDuffie Edited Wednesday at 10:45 PM by Kelly to Allen 1 2 Quote

This team is on the doorstep with its most important pieces all returning and it has continuity within the staff. Go get Garrett, use 2 firsts if you have to. Then if you see another player available where we can add a high quality player at Outside WR, CB, or S that could be had in a trade using one of our 2nds and maybe another pick if need be, pull the trigger. We got a lot of draft capital this year, and the least amount of holes to fill in a long time. Use some to go get the talent for a team that is absolutely ready to win NOW and do it before the other teams in our division get better as well. Good spot with salary cap. At least as compared to last few years. Seems like Beane was setting this year up for a big trade or two. The fact that Garrett "might" be possible? turned that trade FTW thinking into a magical fantasy, That truly could become a reality if the stars align more specifically. 21 hours ago, billsfan89 said: Beane's drafting from 2021-2023 was really good and the early returns on 2024 are solid. That being said I am for adding a big piece via trade and or free agency. No argument in general 89 But no Elite game changers DE and WR are those pieces after QB McBeane tracks better in the mid to late rounds anyways ☺️ 2 Quote

Special K Posted Wednesday at 11:50 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:50 PM I would trade two 1st's for Garrett, sign a FA CB2 to a 1 year "try to win a Super Bowl with the Bills this year, then get paid by another team the following year" contract(like Leonard Floyd did a couple of years ago), use the two second rounders to draft a 1-tech space-eating DT and S Xavier Watts to pair with Bishop on the back-end. That would be a pretty decent Defensive overhaul in one offseason. Doing this would come at the expense of not re-signing Cooper, and not using another high draft pick on a WR to replace him. In that scenario, the Bills would have to gamble that Samuel could have a fully healthy year, and that Coleman and Kincaid could stay healthy, and take a big step forward next year. 1 Quote
