Bill from NYC Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago 8 hours ago, Alphadawg7 said: I am a big Kupp fan having lived in LA for all his career. Always liked his game. But...I will tell you the downside...everything is about fit. Does he bring the elements this group needs right now at this stage of his career? The answer is no, because he is redundancy on this roster with both Shakir and Samuel here. This roster needs a down field outside threat, we have tons of options over the middle in the short to mid range attack that Kupp eats at right now. Would I be upset if we get Kupp...of course not. But do I think he changes much for this offense this next season...probably not a whole lot. This offense was the 16th best offense in NFL history and greatest in Bills history. If anyone really expects to improve upon that, then we need to add someone that adds a dimension this offense is missing, and Kupp doesn't bring much of that at this stage of his career. I think he can still be a very good player for someone, but I don't think he changes a whole lot for the Bills offense based on the makeup of our roster right now. You raise good points. My question is: Do you think that we have a better receiver on our current roster? 1 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago 2 hours ago, Alphadawg7 said: This was my entire point, he just adds more of what we already have and doesn't provide what we lack. Now factor in Shakir, Samuel, and Keon are all 100% back. Hollins is probably back, and Cooper is the wildcard. Obviously Cooper isn't back if they traded for Kupp...and now with Kupp we have an even bigger deficit on the outside than we did this year. Kupp just is not the right fit for what the offense lacks, so he shouldn't be on our radar at all IMHO. And I like Kupp a lot and still think he can be good for someone this year, but we need a legit threat on the outside to elevate the composition of this WR group. If only we could have addressed that in arguably the greatest WR draft ever… 4 1 Quote

No team in their right mind will try to trade for him. The Rams will have to release him. 2025 is his age 32 season and he had 710 yards receiving in 2024. I wouldn’t expect much more than that out of him going forward. Probably less as he falls off. Quote
Wizard Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago I would prefer someone like Courtland Sutton for our WR room. Quote

If the Rams keep money they’ll be looking for a top 100 pick maybe even a 2nd. I’m not sure I’d pull the trigger on another inside receiver given our other needs. But I also agree with you that I think this one could maybe happen. Agreed. I think they would need to renegotiate and spread out that hit. But for a 4th or 5th rounder, may be worth it to roll the dice to see if he can stay healthy for a year. Quote

He's had like 1 year he didn't miss a good chunk of time in his career, is expensive and I'm not sure at this point of his career if he is a better option than Shakir. I don't think the production would match the cost both in picks and finances. I'd rather just extend Shakir to be honest. 1 Quote

That matters. And fans just react to what they see My assumption is 1) Kincaid comes in 10-15 lbs heavier and a lot stronger next season; he must have been told to do this, and McD as much as said this is important "...to make it through the entire season..." AND 2) Samuel will come in completely healthy and fast and will actually be the guy they traded for So not sure you see a lot in the WR room other than a big move for a boundary speedster . no idea who that will be. Sure it’s possible, but I’m not sure how likely it is. Samuel was healthy toward the end of the season. While he played better, his production was still was a far cry from the player the Bills signed. As far as Kincaid, I’m wondering why they are just talking about him adding size now. This was the pre-draft knock on him, and it was obvious in his rookie season that his lack of blocking affected the snaps he got on the field. I think they envisioned him playing the “big slot” WR role until they found out Shakir was a much more productive fit. But we’ve seen Beane’s faith play out both ways. After 2022, he pleaded with people to give Spencer Brown more time and it paid off. He did the same for Gabe Davis, using injuries as an excuse, and he was the same player he’s always been in Buffalo. Just in my opinion, both don’t seem like a great fit for the defense. Quote
JP51 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Yeah, I love Kupp, but we have receivers like him.. I think questionably he would be the best WR on the team interested to see how his knee holds up... but we would be investing a lot of resources into a player that we ultimately already have... and a dimension we already have covered.. so fine do it.. .but does that mean you dont go after a guy that can stretch the field.. and I am not talking some gadget really fast guy... a legit WR that can run the route tree and stretch the field.. and are you going to go after a game breaking DL... or DE... and are you going to improve your DB situation... if this trade precludes these things my answer is no... Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago He probably isn't really what they need, but he is a very good fit for what they do. Josh Allen seems to really prey on defenses in that 10-25 yard range. Kupp is that short-intermediate guy and he feasts there. We have those guys in Shakir, Kincaid. While we all want that downfield stretch threat, they simply do not run a lot of those routes. Now is that a chicken in the egg type scenario? Do they not stretch the field because of their personnel? Because Brady certainly stretched the field at LSU. Kupp is a fit, but I am not sure they go down that road. 1 Quote

TheBeaneBandit Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) So, being "that time of year, again lol" , when players are released, how soon can they be signed by a new team? I'm guessing after the Superbowl obviously, but before free agency? Edited 11 hours ago by TheBeaneBandit Quote
billsfan89 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I think he’s still got some juice left in him this past season in 11 games he had 700 yards and 6 TD’s. While he may not be the elite WR he once was at age 32 (which is right towards the tail end of a WR’s better years) he’s still a capable NFL WR. But I just don’t see the fit here. Bills need a durable outside WR. I think Kupp is going to be more of a slot guy at this age and the Bills have one of the better slot WR’s in Shakir and another capable slot guy in Samuel. Quote

Maybe there's one designated that way, but I feel we never really replaced Cole Beasley. Josh thrived when he had Baez. Quote
Big Turk Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Don't want a declining, about to be 32 year old player coming off multiple serious injuries including ACL's and constant ankle injuries every year making $20 million. Maybe closer to $7 or 8 million and we could talk? Quote
Logic Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago The player I wish the Bills could have on an affordable one-year deal is Adam Thielen. Everyone can say what they want about his age, but the dude showed last year he can still ball. He can also play outside. I'm not suggesting he'd be "the" answer or anything, but I think he could make some noise with Josh for a season. You'd think he'd want to end his career somewhere other than a Carolina rebuild.
