Most people in 2025 who would consider NOT watching the SB don't watch sports in ways that are actively influencing "ratings" estimates to begin with. At least not the "potential" or undecided viewers. They exist outside our data collection systems (in their minds) 10 hours ago, Albany,n.y. said: I find boycotts to be pretty useless, especially of free items. Most people are not participants of a rating service & whether they watch or not will have zero effect on the TV ratings. If someone doesn't want to watch the game, that's fine, but if they're not watching, thinking they are a social warrior, they're mistaken. Just about anything can go too far. I recently spoke to a Californian who said they weren't bathing in order to save water. Boycotts might be our most powerful tool in the coming years (but not for "free items"). Very true, however, that TV ratings services are super outdated and arbitrary and only meaningful within self-fulfilling legacy media ecosystems anyways. I'm excited to 100% HATE-WATCH the SB again. Years of rooting against the Patriots prepared me for this. (God bless those two years of cheering on Eli Manning and Steve Spagnuolo...wait, what!?) Quote
White Linen Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Yeah giving games to Amazon prime and the NFL ticket to YouTube was to maximize viewership. 1 Quote
Chicken Boo Posted February 7 Posted February 7 This recent referee scrutiny is weird to me being that we lived through a 20-year Patriots run that was FAR worse. 1 Quote

This feels worse to me cuz after you get screwed you have to watch some combination of Andy Reid, pat mahomes, and the Kelce brothers in 3 consecutive commercials 🤣 1 1 1 Quote

The Chiefs represent many things that people find obnoxious. 3 Quote

I think this is just people being pissed that these “dynasty” teams seem to all get games handed to them. It’s super annoying and having watched it happen with the Pats and Brady, now with the Chiefs it’s hitting a boiling point. Quote
Big Turk Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Not a fan of either team but I'm still watching because I am a fan of football. 1 1 Quote
Augie Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I’ll skip 100% of the hours of hype leading up to the game, but I’ll watch the actual football as long as it’s interesting. I’m not proving anything or hurting Goodell by not watching. I already watch much less NFL than I used to. 3 Quote
Draconator Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I'll be watching, and here's why. I'll be on this here website at the same time. The commentary will be priceless. 1 1 2 1 Quote

It's because the Bills were awful during that 20 year span. The reason this is different is because these calls are actually preventing us from going to and winning Super Bowls. The Patriot days were just giving us better draft position. Quote
Scott7975 Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I don't really care if the ratings tank or not but I won't be watching. Tired of the Chiefs and dont care about Philly. 2 Quote

Especially if you use a streaming service like YouTube TV. You're viewing is instantly reported to the Nielsen Ratings. At least watch on over-the-air TV or at a bar. And if you happen to be a Nielsen household this week, don't turn the TV on Sunday night. After Sunday, we’re without football for 7 months. I’ll watch every minute of the Super Bowl with a heart full of hate. 1 Quote

You know what’s crazy, is they should never be that high to begin with but if we made it to the SB, you know damn well those prices are moving towards double 3k… Quote
