Last year’s Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl, the local KC market had the highest TV rating.

Second highest: San Francisco. Just kidding, they didn’t crack the top 10.

Second highest: Buffalo.

I am so uninterested in this years Super Bowl, I’ll be doing my taxes that evening. No joke. I normally host a Super Bowl party every year, but nobody I hang out with plans on viewing. Nor do I.

I remain steadfast in my resolve to not only not watch the SB, but also not watching a single second of NFL Network, ESPN, Fox Sports etc. NFL programming the past week and this week. I feel like 12 year old McButterpants when I figured out that wrestling wasn't real.

SuperBowl LIX: America doesn’t care

Im very interested to see the ratings this year.

NFL and Goodell will lie. Highest SB ratings ever, many viewers were difficult to account for with streaming and gatherings, blah, blah,blah....

It reminds me of a restaurant owner I worked for years ago. Nobody would be in the place some nights and I said, man, we're dead tonight. He would get so mad and respond, we're not dead, just slow! Don't ever say we're dead... 🙄

To those not watching a Super Bowl for the first time ever ... You probably won't even miss it. I skipped the last 3 or 4 Brady bowls and didn't miss them a bit. This one I might tune in just to see how one sided the zebras call the game, though I have the feeling they'll try to hide their desired winner better than they did in the AFCCG.

I'm sure the money from licensing 3 peat items will be through the roof.

If you can bear to not watch the Super Bowl, you can help drive down the ratings. Especially if you use a streaming service like YouTube TV. You're viewing is instantly reported to the Nielsen Ratings. At least watch on over-the-air TV or at a bar. And if you happen to be a Nielsen household this week, don't turn the TV on Sunday night.

the more I read this the more I want to vote my TV viewing away from the NFL this year and watch ANYTHING else. On Youtube TV during the super bowl. and it goes to straight to Neilson f\ratings? WHOA I did Not know that.

its the TV viewing clicks that will get the Pub. I hope the numbers go way down. I should Not be a hypocrite and watch it solely on its commericials, the fun factor, etc.

plus I really hope to see KC lose.

its a quandry

Either a bunch of posters taking a ridiculous stance, or fibbers.  I don’t know a single friend or family member who is taking the “I refuse to watch stance”.

My guess is a lot of the “no way I am watching” folks will watch, and just won’t admit it.

Not sure that this hurts the league.  It's the secondary market.

You are right it doesnt hurt the league they are getting thier price on every ticket... what it does do is give a leading indicator on their sway on the fan... I would imagine they would not welcome this news for the future... I think they are only about money.. and if your demand is going down (not that it is necessarily), but if a leading indicator suggests demand down then you are concerned or watchful etc...  I believe there may be a message in this or that they perceive one...

Why do I feel like the ratings will be the "best ever" regardless of how many people watch

Now that's truly WWE talk.

Best Royal Rumble of all time! One night only! It's all a work!

What will hurt the league is if tv viewership tanks.

agreed they get the majority of their revenue from this... if viewership tanks this would be another leading indicator that there are issues as well as to a lesser degree the ticket prices.. although there can be a lot of reasons for that but multiple or confirming indicators you can be sure they will notice this means dollars and cents.. if it means that you have their attention.

I haven't watched a superbowl since 2015 when Seattle won it because I live near Seattle.

Befor that I think I watched a Greenbay SB in the late 1990s .

I do not lie the over paegenty of the game. Its over done and annoying

Also given the state of the NFL and their insistance on playing regular season games in foreign coutries, the questionable reffereeing, and the NFL entity as a whole, I choose to limit my exposure to the NFL to the Buffalo Bills and nothing else.

You want to get someones attention li,it the money you spend and if enough people do this we can get some changes that benefit the cash cow... Taht is US!!!!! we are the cash cow

They can lie all they want... and probably will... but the results will be the results.. and they will react to the results in a way that benefits them from a revenue standpoint regardless of what they say... I believe none of what they say... lol... half of what they do...
