It's becoming a real tradition. By any chance did you used to go by @Kevin? It's a different guy now but back when Mario Williams hit free agency I accurately predicted that it was the offseason where the mercurial Ralph C Wilson would try to make a big splash and sign Mario.........and Kevin was outraged at me for even suggesting something so preposterous. Just beside himself, for some reason. I was on vacation for a week when Mario signed and by the time I got home Kevin had vanished from the board. I don't even know what the equivalent of such a move would be now. I also predicted Donahoe would try to trade for Bledsoe after the season after he'd only been out injured for a few weeks from the Mo Lewis hit and had just signed the richest QB contract ever. Even after the SB win it was presumed Bledsoe was QB1 for the foreseeable future in NE. Then to trade him in division? No acquisition that the Bills could possibly make work this offseason would be as shocking as either of those acquisitions were. Not Garrett and Crosby or Garrett and Metcalf. While unlikely, they are much easier dots to connect. I understand skepticism.......this franchise has had a way of convincing people that they have a dark cloud over them.........but you gotta' remember that stranger things have indeed happened. 1 8 Quote

Injury is a worry with anyone, doesn't matter the age. Look at what happened to RG3 and he was young. Garrett is a god damned game wrecker. Something we haven't had on defense in a long time. Quote

No, I've been here since 2003 under the same name. I was 19 at the time, thus the cringe user name that I've pretty much kept just for sentimental sake. I def remember the Mario Williams threads. I was working a desk job and secretly checking back to the thread on here every 5 minutes while on the clock. I don't think the move for Garrett is preposterous at all. Though I do think Trading for Garrett AND Crosby is preposterous. As for that particular post, it was more of a legitimate laugh than laughing at him. I saw the 14 siren emoji's first while the tweet loaded in and thought something had happened. I'll be excited as anyone if something substantial is reported. But getting himself and people (myself included for a moment) worked up over a picture from a meetup at the Honors - when Josh probably had something similar with every player in attendance? I don't find that particularly weighty. But again, cool picture. I do disagree that as wild as Bledsoe and Mario were that the idea of Garrett and Crosby together or Garrett and Metcalf together is a far less unrealistic idea. Each of those moves, like Von Miller, were individual moves in individual offseasons. Each done in a better position financially. In the sense of more shocking that they were done, in the dismal position the team was in at the time, yes - those were wilder. In the sense of feasibility to building a roster with what we had at our disposal, no. They're not as wild as taking on someone who will demand a 130+m contract and then taking on another 75-100+m guy and giving up all the picks it would take to do it - in the same offseason. Though, I'd love to be wrong about Garrett and Metcalf. And I'd be thrilled to say that I was. Edited Sunday at 08:57 AM by BillsFanForever19 1 Quote

I don't know if you are just trying to avoid setting yourself up for disappointment. But Bledsoe had been made the highest paid QB in NFL history less than a year before he was traded to Buffalo. There was no talk at all of the Patriots trading Bledsoe. Then it happens in division no less. Wilder? It was inconceivable, especially being so soon after the Bills Capocalypse. And then Ralph giving out the first non-QB $100M contract in NFL history for Mario when he had been operating under "cash to the cap" for like 8 years. Inconceivable to most. In addition to being "wilder" these were huge financial barriers that Bills fans couldn't believe were being crossed, under the circumstances. These Bills are close and in Allen's prime. They just lamented their need for stars at the end of season. Beane has always had free reign to spend as needed. And there is a clear path how to do it......just switch from extending "good" players they drafted to paying a couple stars and using the plethora of day 3 picks to replace "good" players. They are also are in a window to sell de facto 30 year season ticket commitments to a new stadium opening in August of 2026(hopefully). There are huge reasons to make splash moves and a path to do it. The biggest obstacle probably isn't the salary cap, it's the competition for the services of those players. 3 1 Quote
