He was tied for 11th in pressures and 17th in hurries among NFL DE's in 2024. Very close to Crosby and Garrett in those pass rushing metrics. He just hasn't been able to be a finisher to this point because he's not a great athlete. But like I said, he has ELITE GPS if the QB steps up in the pocket. If they could force those situations he would become a sack producer. Or he might just get better with experience and increased natural strength like Calais Campbell did. Well said. I think if you put a stud pass rusher opposite, who does not HAVE to play LDE (like Von), you will unlock Groot. Might be adjacent to a comp you've used previously, which was Jerry Hughes as the "chaser", and what the Bills/Hughes lacked was the finisher. And yes, from my untrained eye, Rousseau is an elite run defender at the edge. Quote
NewEra Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 2 hours ago, HappyDays said: I don't know man. Three of our TD drives featured big plays on downfield passes - 2 completions to Hollins, 1 DPI against Coleman. The other drives were really really tough sledding. Multiple 4th down conversions, Cook making an insane acrobatic play at the goalline, etc. Our regular season game against KC we won because two of our TD drives featured big downfield completions to Cooper. So I don't think we can just hand wave away how important a downfield passing offense is. And that part of our offense was not remotely good enough this year because the personnel wasn't good enough. We made it work with possibly unsustainable efficiency and turnover luck, but it shouldn't need to be that difficult with Allen as the QB. Downfield passing if anything should be the identity of our offense. I still believe that is our best path to a championship. I mean- Samuel dropped a wide open pass that may have been a TD if you look at the all 22. Kincaid dropped the biggest pass of the game. Allen. Imported 65% of his passes- add those 2 drops and he’s 70%+. Plus we got robbed on a 4th down and 1. If we converted on 1 of those 3 drives we score 32-35. 2 of those converted and we might’ve scored 40. yet again our defense gave up 30+ yet again. If the plan is to score 40+ in every playoff game (and every game vs soags)- I think it’s the wrong plan. We need a better defense. our offense was superb the majority of the season 1 Quote

We didn't have the personnel to cover those guys. Agree, also don't think we knew how to handle a team being prepared for us to play man coverage. Other times we caught teams off guard with it and it worked cause they werent expecting it. KC seemed to know it could come and had man beaters built in that we were prepared to work through (switches or having the spy influence the crosser). Sorta wished we had run it more during the regular season to see the adjustment teams would make to it. 1 Quote

Major advantage for us as should eliminate about 80% of the league. Better keep Amari cooper happy so he can talk to one of his old mates. And, maybe it’s time to bend some rules, too. Hopefully josh has Myles’s number. Quote
