I'm not normally one to jump on board for the wild trade scenarios but this is absolutely the right time and the right player for Beane to go out there and swing for the fences.  This is the kind of move that could elevate us to a being a true Super Bowl contender

Unpopular opinion but assuming it costs 2 first round picks and more, I'm not interested. 1 elite d lineman is not going to have a major impact when you have a swiss cheese secondary.

I also don't think we can, or should, be paying two d ends $25M+ (plus 16M for Oliver). So we'd have to include Greg in the trade.

Garret - ? - Oliver - AJE

Meh

Or you could watch Greg blow up next to Garrett then tag & trade him to get back some of the draft capital you shelled out for Garrett after you win the super bowl?

He would be, without a doubt, the most impactful defensive player on a snap to snap basis that Allen has ever played with.

He would also probably be the best defender Allen would ever play with for the remainder of his career.

Nothing guarantees a SB.  Allen himself doesn't guarantee one but he's the closest thing to it.  A player like Garrett is the second closest thing to it.

Like I said in my original post, he's undoubtedly very good and would definitely improve our Pass Rush. I'd obviously be pleased to add him.

But my feeling is that the cost to get him would be so prohibitive that things we need like a True #1 WR to go along with Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, and Mack Hollins (who we would also need to re-sign), a starting quality CB to replace Douglas, and a replacement for Daquan Jones (who is toast) at 1T would all have to be filled with mid Round picks and Budget FA's.

Honest question for you - would you be happy with rolling back Coleman, Shakir, Samuel, and Hollins with a mid Round Rookie if we could acquire Garrett? Bc I thought you were always advocating that we needed more there. And we certainly can't do both a move for Garrett and a move for a veteran difference maker at WR.

Garrett makes the entire defense significantly better.

Takes focus off Ed and Rousseau.  My draft priority becomes a 1T to fill in a line of

Groot - Ed - 1T - Garrett

It makes the LBs better.  Makes the secondary better.

The O as is this year scored 30 points a game.  We can still add to it.

I was just reading the awesome mock draft write-ups by @GunnerBill and @gonzo1105. I appreciate all the time and effort put into them, but the player selections this year arent exactly mind blowing. Not their fault, I think it's more just a down year for a draft class. Not sure there is anyone we could land that would really rock our world.

So it got me thinking. To add some perspective to the Garrett trade talk, assuming we could do it for a 1st and two 2nds this year...

Would you rather have:

Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon

JT Tuimoloau – Edge , Ohio St

Isaiah Bond – WR, Texas

or

Donovan Ezeiruaku, DE, Boston College

Tre Harris, WR, Mississippi

Jordan Burch, DE/DT, Oregon

or (Drafttek)

Mike Green, Edge, Marshall

Nazir Stackhouse, DT, Georgia

Jalen Royals, WR, Utah St

or

Myles Garrett, DE, six Pro Bowl selections, four first-team All-Pro selections, the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, and willing to bash division rivals in the head with their own helmets.

Definitely a guy I’d sell the farm for. You’re almost certainly giving up two 1’s and a starting caliber player.

One thing going against us tho those 1’s are in the very bottom of the draft. If I’m Cleveland I could probably get better.

I wouldn’t say that.

Ed Oliver is quite movable post 6/1 and saves us another $14M.

Would I do something like a combo of picks/Ed to make moves for a Garrett AND a DK?

Yes.

Something like 2025 1st, 2025 2nd and 2026 first for Garrett, and a 2026 2nd, 2026 3rd + Ed for DK?

Yup.

what good is Garrett and his 10+ sacks when we will still be rolling out the same soft scheme that gets shredded in the playoffs

It's a concern, but if the front four can be dominant, McD's scheme works a lot better.

If the WR is a legitimate vertical threat? Yes. Add Garrett and run it back with that group. If it’s not working out you could probably trade for someone again. Just make sure if you go as high as a 3rd rounder, the guy is going to be impactful for the majority of his acquisition and not a splash here or there. Love Cooper but that production for what was traded is a let down. Not again hopefully.

Option A.
If you hit on those 3 picks you have them at team friendly prices for years.

The Garrett acquisition better be an immediate impact, which it will. But one that lasts into the playoffs. If he disappears then, we have a problem lol

Albert Breer of SI.com was asked about landing spot.  He rattled off some really odd choices including Houston, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington and Detroit.

Philadelphia… lol jfc. Could you imagine? What an embarrassment of riches that team has. Credit to Howie Roseman, Brandon Hunt and Connor Barwin for the work they’ve done in drafting and developing the players.

Not really.  Elam was drafted in the first.  Benford in the 6th.  Beane has a better track record in the later rounds, and my trade proposal we don’t “lose” any picks, just trade back

Still a gross over pay, even with the trade back part of the equation.

Wasn't Bruce mentoring him when he came in the league.  Maybe Bruce can put in a good word.

Seeing Bruce in Browns gear is as unnatural as a panda riding a bike or a chimp smoking.

First, the Bills have to release Miller.

Second, if you include Groot, you are robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Garrett and AJE as the starters won’t get it done.

Also, with the DL, Jones should be released and the Bills should sign a big DT and draft one.

Groot might be out the door after 2025 … Im sure they will know before making the call on Garrett or Crosby if he wants to go to the market …. Are you ok with him for one more year only, or throw him in the trade ?
