If this is the asking price, Buffalo should make a serious bid

Yeah these GM's value those picks.   Ain't anybody trading 3 #1's.   Or 2 #1's and Groot.   Garrett has effectively narrowed the market and reduced Cleveland's leverage in trade by reducing the field to a few teams at the back end of round 1:

Detroit (28)

Washington (29)

Buffalo (30)

So comes down to how desperate Detroit and Washington are........and where Garrett wants to go.

While it’s very likely he gets a new deal it’s not 100%.  The point still remains that an extension would most likely lower his cap hit to start.

He has no guaranteed money left. So we could make him happy short-term by converting some salary to guaranteed. Which I believe allows us to spread that hit over the rest of the contract. And then figure out a new contract over the next year.

Yeah, I’m not giving up two first round picks (and this years second) for a defensive player. I know they’ll be late in the round, but I couldn’t justify that as GM. I know I’m in the minority here, so I don’t have much else to say on it, but that’s too costly imo.

That's simply Cleveland publicly posturing to maximize their potential return, IMO. Garrett will be past his prime by the time they are true contenders and he has forced their hand. They have no QB plan at the moment with Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Jackson, Stroud, & Herbert in their prime with potentially Maye & Nix, as well, in the AFC. I can't see them signing him to an enormous contract at this stage of their "rebuild" but Cleveland is Cleveland.

We do this dance every off season with super star players. Lucy always pulls the ball up, Charlie Brown.

I wouldn’t be upset if we got Garrett. I’d love to see him come here and perform phenomenally. It would help put an end to excuses for not slowing down KC.  I do worry about Mahomes’ and Reid’s ability to neutralize a player like Garrett. We’ve seen guys like Bosa and Hutchinson neutralized by great offensive coaches. The offense beyond Cook is concerning as well, and we could easily see production decrease next season if resources aren’t spent there as well.

I'm not worried about our offense. We're bringing the entire crew back next season, and can only upgrade it from this point.

I'd be thrilled just to have a Defensive player that Reid/Mahomes even have to gameplan for!

what’s the price tag? Anyone have an idea? Two 1st rounders?

I wouldn't miss them. The future is now!

They will want Rousseau and two firsts plus probably like a third next year which seems to be honest not too bad

I’d give them Rousseau, the Bills 1st + 2nd this year (we have two 2nds) and a 1st next year without hesitation.

Garrett is a truly elite player that can change games and that teams have to plan for. We don’t have anyone like that on defense right now.

A lot of our 1st round picks have been underwhelming anyway.

last four 1st round picks:

Oliver

Rousseau

Elam

Kincaid

Would any Bills fan NOT trade any combination of 2 of those players for Garrett? Or even all 4?

Beane does his best work in the mid/late rounds.

How fun would it be to see Myles Garrett chase Bruce Smith’s sack record in a Bills uniform?

That’s fair. There are some up and coming teams that pick earlier, but you are correct that most will be at the end of the round.

Yeah we will see if the Browns fulfill his demands. All I know is Beane talked about pass rush in his end of season PC and said ""I don't know if a team will hand you a chris jones or a game wrecker"

Here is your chance Beane

Well I would absolutely love it, we pretty much wouldn't have a draft for about 2 years to make it happen.

Interesting timing coming right off the back of ProBowl and him getting a chance to be chummy with all the superstars around the league.  I know Schnowmann was chirping in his ear all weekend, lets hope it sounded awesome.  Does he have any control over where he lands?  Im guessing he must with the way this was worded

A couple things living here in Cleveland and following Myles' career:

This is definitely not posturing by him or the Browns.  Garrett isn't someone to do this or do it lightly.  I 100% believe his post.

He is a part owner of the Cavs and regularly sits on-court and sometimes does give-aways, etc. for the crowd during time-outs.  This sounds minor and maybe goes away after the trade but is important for two reasons:

-Underscores his request is legit because of the blowback risk

-Buffalo isn't far from Cleveland, I realize he can fly from whereever, but Buffalo is the closest Superbowl contender if he wants to stay active at all with the Cavs.

I think we’ll be low on the Browns’ list of teams to deal with…they aren’t going to want to ship Garrett to another AFC team and our first round picks are almost second-rounders.  Lots of teams will be interested, of course…

I'm not sure the Browns care outside of the AFC North. It's not like they are realistically worried about facing the Bills and Garrett in the AFC Championship next year.

Who else is bidding that much?  That is the question.   I think it's probably down to Detroit, Washington or Buffalo and the first two actually have less draft capital than Buffalo over the next two drafts.

Well I expect this to dominate the conversation for the next couple months. And I get it. Personally though I would invest in rebuilding the secondary before I would trade the farm for Garrett. Mahomes had an average time to throw of like 2.2 seconds in the AFCCG, only 1.77 seconds against man (if I'm remembering correctly). I don't care if Bruce Smith is rushing opposite of Reggie White, you aren't getting to the QB that fast. A player like Garrett would certainly raise our regular season ceiling and maybe put us in contention for the #1 seed so from that perspective I would understand it. I just don't think it's the move that will get us past the Chiefs in the playoffs. We need 3/4 of our secondary fixed and we need a downfield passing game. That would be my focus this offseason.

This right here, our safeties and CBs need serious upgrades the guy is 30 years old give or take a few months, let’s not do a Von 2.0 and still have a huge need for Ss & CBs

If Jacksonville wants him Cleveland will have the 2nd and 5th pick.

We’re only getting him if he wants to be here.

That's the one position Jax doesn't need. What Jax need is a new QB, which they won't get.
