Myles Garrett requests a trade

Cleveland will not really entertain any offers. This is all an angle for Garrett to get a new contract from the Browns for max value. That's why Garrett went public. Cleveland is gonna end up making a huge offer and he will re-sign there. 

 

That's simply Cleveland publicly posturing to maximize their potential return, IMO. Garrett will be past his prime by the time they are true contenders and he has forced their hand. They have no QB plan at the moment with Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Jackson, Stroud, & Herbert in their prime with potentially Maye & Nix, as well, in the AFC. I can't see them signing him to an enormous contract at this stage of their "rebuild" but Cleveland is Cleveland.

Uhhh, because he had an epic 200+ page thread before his signing, and I said my criteria were players who had epic offseason threads.

 

All of the players I listed had 200+ page "Go get him" threads. Had nothing to do with whether they came to Buffalo or not. (Although I wish more would)

That’s fair, I worry because I don’t see many defensive players at that age who are dominant in today’s NFL. At least not dominant enough to justify giving up a first round pick.

Some people here act like all picks within a round are the same. It’s not like we’re picking 10th. We’d be offering picks 30, 56 (or 62) and Rousseau. I don’t see how that is a serious offer for Myles Garrett.

Normally I'd agree, but this guy appears to keep himself in incredible condition.  I don't think he's carrying a lot of old-injury baggage.  The normal wear and tear is real of course but i'm guessing he has a good 3 years of super production left.  That's still with Allen in his prime.

DEs can age well. At least through their early 30s. Von played very well when he was 29, 30, 31. And even his first year on the Bills looked great until he blew his ACL on that garbage turf in Detroit that they had to replace.

 

I dont know that I'd re-sign Garrett to a second contract once his first was done with the Bills, but I think he'd be a major upgrade and contributor to our team for the next 3 years.

If he truly wants to go to a contender then that logic simply isn't valid. Any contender will be drafting low in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Yeah, and Mario's last season here was when Rex had him dropping back in coverage and doing other stupid ***** instead of just letting him play to his strengths.

No brainer. I'm not usually a GIT IR DONE guy, but in this instance, I am there. It's a huge need and he wants to win. He should be in a 4 down defensive structure so that eliminates a few teams. 

 

So true contenders who are a 4 down base and have a big need. 

 

I could see Cleveland wanting to deal him to the NFC. But this would be a great move. I really don't care about the cost. This is that over-the-top move they thought Von Miller would be.

Trey Hendrickson just led the league with 17.5 sacks in his 30-year-old season.

That might be true, I just struggle with giving up draft choices. We seem more than one player away. We don’t even have a number one receiver at this point, and how much would Garrett benefit us? If KC is down to one last drive in another AFCCG, is McD going to bring pressure, or does Garrett drop into coverage? I don’t trust our system enough to be content with losing draft picks.

No surprise on this but I heard from some in the Browns circles that Garrett privately asked the Browns to trade him and was told “no”. Thus him going public with it. Looks like the Browns are at least trying to hold the line on that. Or making it look like they are to boost his trade value.

Doesn't he want to go to a contender? I guess it depends if the Browns will fulfill his request of being traded to a contender.

We just lost by 3 in a game where if Josh Allen could have gotten a half-yard to take it out of the hands of the refs we probably would have won. The Bills are not even a player away. They are a play away.
