Speaking of which, we don't hear much any more about their Moneyball approach. Yeah, they're going to let pride get to them, dig in and play hardball with Garrett, cause a huge mess, and end up trading him midseason for less than they could have had. In today's NFL, if the player is 100% committed to getting out he'll get out. 2 Quote

Speaking of which, we don't hear much any more about their Moneyball approach. They're still doing the analytics approach, and honestly, it works for the most part. It was the non analytical decision by Haslam to do the idiotic Watson trade that screwed everything up. Analytics say to do the exact opposite than the Watson trade. Before Watson, Cleveland was always loaded with cap room and draft picks. Of course they missed on some picks like everyone does, but they actually made a lot of good value picks as well. 2 Quote

But after Garrett said what he said and did what he did, I have to imagine he's not thrilled with quotes like this. "He understands the business aspect" The business of wanting to play on a Championship caliber team? I mean... Maybe Garrett was not being completely honest, who knows? But he was pretty clear that it had nothing to do with money. He also made it pretty clear that he considered what the Browns were proposing as the future plan and was not on board. Like I said... Maybe it's just me... 1 Quote

Maybe it's just me... It depends on who they mean, as it pertains to saying “he understands the business aspect“, if you look at how it’s written… It could be Stefanski or Myles Garrett. But if you read what Stefanski said, he says he expects Myles Garrett to be on the team this year, next year, and the year after that. Garrett only has two years on his contract so is Stefanski saying he expects Miles Garrett to sign a contract extension into the “year after that“ Edited Wednesday at 09:12 PM by drummernut74 Quote

If I put myself in Garrett shoes I would feel like they were completely ignoring what I've said and saying the exact opposite... If you want to go to the extreme... it's like they are ignoring what he said... And basically saying... You're staying and you'll even sign an extension... I don't know... 1 Quote

I don't think its as easy as you think for a player in the NFL to force a trade. This isn't the NBA.....think of how many trade requests were flat out ignored by teams.....Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel come to mind. I would really like to see Garrett end up in Buffalo, but I just don't see Cleveland giving in to his wishes.....we will see. Quote
SCBills Posted Thursday at 06:13 PM Posted Thursday at 06:13 PM Does this make our Pick 30 more enticing if we are to trade it? Does it make it less likely to want to trade it? Quote

I’ve been hearing the same from some people dialed in with the Browns. Things are heading toward a new contract that would make him the highest paid defender in league history. That was always the plan for the Browns FO. Obviously no trade would be possible for a few years if that happens. There can always be a wrench thrown into the works, but this path looks to be a near certainty. Quote

If the point being made is that our pick 30 is no different than pick 10 this year, I'm sure that can be used to help assuage any team worried that we are picking too late in RD1 for our first round pick to be a centerpiece of a deal. This has been my guess for a while too. They'll do something like sign Aaron Rodgers and explain to Garrett that now they have a QB and they're all in on winning. Then they'll hand him the best non-QB contract in NFL history. He can try to force a trade but he's not going to sit out a season with generational money dangling in front of him. Quote
