On second thought, if the Bills can't get Garrett I'd be okay with them selecting Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham with their first two picks to pair with Rousseau and Epenesa on the edge

Definitely need 2 1T's. One to replace Daquan Jones on the starting line (he's toast) and another to rotate in.

But if they can't get Garrett - then they should call about other veteran DE's. If they can't get something done, then they need to be looking into Joeh Sweat. If they can't do any of that, they need to try and get Khalil Mack in here for a year (as he is still performing at a high level).

Either way, we should not be starting AJ Epenesa this coming year. Rousseau is an 8 sack a year guy and Epenesa is a 6 sack a year guy. It's not enough. Preferably you get someone in here with better production, put him on the Right side, move Rousseau to the Left, and cycle Epenesa in off the bench.

When I heard the Bengals sold naming rights to the stadium in order to pay for Burrows contract I thought it was a fake story but sounds like they are legitimately broke

When it comes to paying their top players, it's less about a team being "broke" and more about team philosophy with teams that embrace "cash to cap".   IMO, teams embrace "cash to cap" because they put profitability ahead of winning.  That was the Bills under Ralph Wilson's ownership.  It was Indy's philosophy going back for decades under the Irsays.   It's been the Bengals philosophy under the Brown family.

I believe that Rousseau and Epenesa can increase their sack total with better pocket push from the interior.

Good post in my esteem .

I'm more talking about thinking that adding Epenesa adds any value in trade.    At $6.5M, coming off a bad season and entering a walk year.......why would the Browns want that?

If they aren't getting back a win-now package of players with the likes of Rousseau, James Cook, O'Cyrus Torrence(Bittonio may retire) and RVD (to play tackle where they are hurting).........and instead the trade is mostly headlined by picks.........why do they want to waste $6.5M on Epenesa when they are tanking?   Just give those snaps to cheap players with team control.

If you are going to be so dismissive of potential trades you should probably START with looking at it from the other teams perspective. ;)

aren't they tanking again yet ? Whos the QB and they have no money. They might take a few trades

We have to be all in on getting Garrett.  Its like getting prime Bruce.  He will be the missing piece we desperately need.  Cutting Von and re-doing Allens deal gives us plenty of cap room.  We just gotta be willing to roll the dice for the missing piece.

Eagles would be unfair. Where do they keep coming up with big money to pay these guys? (assuming they did)

In another thread, somebody posted that the Eagles have over 300 million in void years, by far the most in the league. They just keep kicking the can down the road. If you have an owner who is rich enough, you can sign anyone. It just costs cash now and cap space later.

Graham is likely going top 5, worst case top 10. Grant will likely be top 20, possibly higher after the combine.  They're both monsters.

He’s going to the Commanders.

I’ve said the Rams but there is uncertainty with Stafford.

Cleveland gets to trade him out of the AFC.

Washington goes all in because it’s the worst a conference has been and as wide open as a conference has been in years.

Cap space - they can go well beyond us.

Assets - they plan on picking late to and won’t care about trading 2 late firsts.

This is a very plausible scenario. It would not shock me at all. Unfortunately, it would shock me far more (in a good kind of way) if he wound up with the Bills.

Well it's also a 50/50 shot that we don't go into the draft with a 1st....or 2 2nd round picks. I myself would rather draft and develop. Beane still has to consider staggering contracts.

If the Bills had won all four Super Bowls, it would not have made me feel any better during the drought. Zero. Zip. Nada.

The same was said about the Rams. It they've done pretty well since Von and Odell. All about drafting

Well, we were in the Final Four, so it can’t be that horrific.

TBD on the cost of getting him, but an available DPOY elite edge rusher is the #1 thing this team is missing, one of the most valuable assets for any team (along with QB and LT) and would have more of an impact on us winning a few more games at the end than any other acquisition all things being equal.

He is worth a lot of draft capital and cash obviously. The question is will he be worth what it will take to outbid other teams who might understand this as well?

He is more interested in achieving on the biggest stage than the Cleveland to Canton narrative. Is there anything more direct on the nose hit than being the hero that pushed Buffalo over the top and got the city's first parade? He is six months older than Josh, and while I know edge elite performance ages differently, no reason not to think that a lot of great football is ahead of him.
