We keep talking about DL, and yes we need an upgrade, but maybe we focus on the secondary instead?

We have one of the top nickle corners in the NFL, so why not load up on top DB talent and go that route?

Emphasize a big 1. Tech DT who can penetrate so he and Oliver can provide pressure up the middle, while we lock down other teams WR's?

I say let McDermott make the decisions on what DB'S he wants, not Beane as he is a DB whisperer.

Before you ping me negatively, think about it and cut me some slack...I have the freaking flu. Apparently Oklahoma is leading the nation in Flu cases right now. 😒

Chris Brown and tasker said the secondary and dline is going to be overhauled.

I personally hope they draft 3 CBS and 2 safeties

HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT YOU FOOL!

lol, seriously I think that's the lowest hanging fruit.  we've re done our secondary in the past with good results, just make it not suck and add talent to the O so we score 7-10 extra in the KC game.

I aint gonna ping ya... they feed on each other, lock down 2ndry helps the pass rush and vice versa... in the end, I am more looking for a game wrecking DL because you cant throw away from him and they have more of an opporiunity to impact the game on a play to play basis... but what you say isnt wrong,,, I would just approach it different...

I'd like a secondary that plays "proactive" and not "reactive", but you need guys with experience to be able to play that way........guys who have the experience to be able to read QB's eyes, tendencies, etc. and be able to project what play is coming or where the ball is going.

We play way too much "reactive" ball and give up a ton of yardage due to our "bend, but don't break" philosophy and in the long run when you want to tighten things up in the post season, i don't know how you can possibly win like this.

Easier said than done. Which one of the 32 teams would not jump on that?

Exactly. Complete 1 techs that can play the run and get to the QB are rare. Doubly so for those that are true difference makers. Obviously you grab one if you can, but you’ll wanna be ready with a Plan B.

Defense definitely needs an overhaul.

Secondary: Rapp, Bishop, Johnson & Benford.

Secondary Needs: Stud safety, starting corner and depth(safety & corner)

Dline: Rousseau, Oliver, Epenesa

Dline Needs: Stud pass rusher, big space eating DL that demands double team and depth(DE & DT).

Offensively I think we can get away with just adding a receiver that can stretch the field and hope Coleman, Kincaid and Samuels take a big step in 2025.

The only DL and secondary defenders I can see here for the next few years are Oliver, Solomon, Carter, Benford, Johnson, and Bishop. Everyone else can be replaced/upgraded.

Agreed. Just get a guy to can split the safeties and stretch the field and the offense is done.

Defense is reactive by nature. Guessing gets you beat. Could we react faster? Surely. Our issue defensively is we lack overall speed and quickness. We are not very good playing man, which makes it extremely difficult to call a defense.

Imagine a team with top 5 pass rush and a top-5 good secondary...

Now, to all the complainers, the current team has a bad defense...yet,  13-4, and 3 points away from a Super Bowl. This team is one or two players away IMHO.

I agree -- especially with the part about letting McD make the call on who he wants at DB. IIRC Hyde, Poyer and Tre all came aboard in McD's first season back in 2017, and all three made an immediate impact. Hyde and Poyer were prudent FA pickups that did not break the bank, and Tre was a rookie. I would LOVE to see something like that happen again this off-season.

All those picks and resources allocated to the defense, and the line and secondary are still in constant states of flux.

Starting to get tiresome.

The Seahawks became the Seahawks back then by having two or three really good drafts in a row. It wasn't just the secondary. They got a lot of good players on both sides of the ball.
