I am on board with USAID delivering food, water, and medicine to those in need. I suspect that would be the 80 in the 80/20 proposition that’s trendy right now. All the other nonsense that makes up the 20 position that someone like you would support, can go.

Then you agree it’s best to do a careful and thorough audit before recommending changes, instead of Elon’s approach that is leaving staffers stranded and medicine expiring by the wayside? 14 minutes ago, AlBUNDY4TDS said: Ok what about the other 98 percent of the money dolled out. No. That would essentially be business as usual and no meaningful change would be affected. I’m fine with it being torn down to the studs. It won’t all be pretty. I wish people would include in their tweets what medicine is expiring and the dates of expiration. That way we could eliminate some hysteria.

Anyone remember the ABA raising concerns about that? No, right? My guess is they're going to be willing to tank the entire economy and social system in order to keep the current arrangements in place. And then blame Trump for it all. So be alert. If the Supreme Court becomes clearly and obviously partisan(in either direction), then stacking it to dilute the partisanship is probably the best idea out there. Who's going to tank the economy and SS. The Republicans aren't even talking to the Democrats about budget, or anything else. They may as well stay at home for all the participation they're going to be allowed to have. 19 minutes ago, JDHillFan said: I am on board with USAID delivering food, water, and medicine to those in need. You mean AMERICAN food and medicine. Money that goes DIRECTLY back into the economy. Nah, let's give it to billionaires, and hope they create business, just like the one's they just took it away from. F'in clowns.

I’m on board with humanitarian assistance. I suspect a majority are. You are free to turn every discussion into something about billionaires if that’s what does it for you. 2 minutes ago, Roundybout said: … do you stop buying food just because you’re full from lunch? Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for an administration that doesn't have billionaire's interest at heart, and hopefully nothing happens in the meanwhile. Hopefully, that new administration will be smarter than the ones in the past, who made it so awful, that it allowed for the dismantling. 6 minutes ago, JDHillFan said: I’m on board with humanitarian assistance. Those businesses are now left out, because they're earmarking that money for tax cuts to possibly create businesses. It doesn't even make an ounce of sense. The sooner you realize there's tons of politics and greed involved in these decisions the better. Edited February 13 by daz28
daz28 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Let me make this clear to the confused. Did soft power money get out of hand. ABSOLUTELY. Is throwing gasoline and a match on it a bad idea. ABSOLUTELY. Maybe some don't understand this, but strife elsewhere around the globe WILL be identified and taken advantage of by our enemies if we don't. If we provide assistance to a country, with American-made goods(that help American businesses/workers), and it helps us globally, then that's WORTH EVERY PENNY. What's that you need X materials from Y country, but they only deal with China now?

Like I have said many times, you all can't find a single thing he does wrong or goes overboard with cause you have been convinced that he is the only one that can root out corruption and dysfunction. We are in a very bad situation in this country. I have lived in countries with autocratic leaders. This is how it starts. Eventually you will hate it. Cause the autocrat replaces the corruption with his own corrupt players who dont have any checks or balances. The checks and balances are the corruption! What a joke this country has become. Three points- I have criticized Trump many times, like this week I stated I disagreed with his treatment of Canada. Second, my question what if this judge is doing something illegal? I have seen multiple reports his wife is one of the people making millions of of USAID. Third what country did you like that was Autocratic?

We have, however, made remarkable strides in treatment. HIV is basically a nuisance at this point because of the treatment regime.
