BillsFanNC Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 You remember Nina Jankowicz, right? Biden's disgraced disinformation czar. Turns out she was funded by USAID to help with more internet censorship efforts. Chalk up another USAID democracy saving initiative for Roundy to point to. Weird.

Tons of examples with lots of exaggerated ones too. We can go tit for tat and split hairs over whether someone wasted 40 million or 4, but it doesn't excuse it.
BillsFanNC Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 Again it's not so much the useless projects and waste with USAID. It's ops the CIA would have to gain presidential approval to engage in, without the presidential approval.

The CNG station was simply one part of a seven-part plan to rebuild Afghanistan’s gas production industry, including production and distribution. This plan was back in 2011! You can admit you were wrong at any time.

Who am I kidding? Here is the sum of it from the link article provided - written by a career USAID employee: Building the station — as well as an administrative office building — was one. The other six included expert and legal support to the Afghan government, and for industry expansion, increasing CNG investment value and reducing investment risk. Seems like a good investment.

Building allies in the Middle East that are not Israel is a good thing, actually. We have a golden opportunity to be friends with Syria as Al-Sharaa liberalizes the nation.

This plan was back in 2011! You can admit you were wrong at any time. Wrong about what? I never cited any specific instance. One that comes to mind was the Moroccan boondoggle where they spent several million on pottery classes. There were some initial reports that the total amount spent was far greater than that, but that's not the point. Waste is waste. You'll note that I've not said anything about completely dismantling it. But pausing non-critical, Non-Life-Threatening funding seems like a reasonable idea while the organization and its spending is audited. Opposition to that seems a little pig-headed. You seem more worried about being "right" in a forum than you do about how we may be wasting money.

BillsFanNC Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 New article up. One of several areas covered: USAID provided EcoHealth with a $38mm grant that ran from 2014 through 2019. USAID provided EcoHealth with an additional $13.2 million in funding AFTER the Covid pandemic had started and AFTER President Trump had ordered that EcoHealth be defunded. But the problems don’t stop there. USAID also funded the original gain-of-function work of Ralph Baric and Shi Zheng-li. USAID’s funding of Baric’s gain-of-function research is particularly notable because USAID Administrator Samantha Power testified before Congress on April 26, 2023 and denied that USAID had ever funded gain-of-function research—similar to the claims that Fauci had made about NIH funding to Congress.

I’m just highly skeptical that the drugged out South African and his army of high schoolers is going to find the actual waste. 12 minutes ago, yall said: Wrong about what?
