Nick Wright on with Big Cat tried saying Josh would only have 1 Super Bowl trophy if he switched places with Mahomes because Mahomes had bad Defenses during the years until recent.

So sad, he has to struggle with only Hill and Kelce.  How did he ever manage?

I can’t debate this stat listed by the OP. It’s obviously pathetic and insane.

It just makes me irrationally angry.

Absolutely he has gotten better. This year was the best yet. He’s rounding out to be a complete quarterback.

He can be better. He started this game off very shaky on that first drive. Nerves got to him. This is something he can work on for next year. He seems to get too hyped for big important games.

I think this will be another stepping stone for bigger things to come.

I feel like you're being that guy (not saying you are this guy) that tells his kid… yeah i see you got a 99 on your final exam.   But you can do better, next time lets work harder to get that 100.

And how many playoff teams had to face an offense the caliber of Kansas City with Goat-candidates Reid and Mahomes in 4 of those 5 losses?

Kansas City has averaged 30 points in the playoffs under Reid and Mahomes (vs. all teams). The year they scored 42 on us (in overtime)---two unstoppable offenses that year---they also scored 42 on the Steelers in the playoffs. I know we didn't face them in the playoffs in 2018, but that 2018 KC squad was the 3rd highest-scoring offense in NFL history. I know the last couple of years they haven't been quite what they were back in 2018, but we are still talking historic stuff over those 5-7 years overall (in which 4 of the Bills playoff losses fall). Not to mention a little help from the refs here and there.

For what it's worth, McDermott's total playoff points against average is 28.3 points. (Still not great, but again, weigh in 4 years vs. KC) Over the last three seasons, the average score for playoff winning teams is 31 points. Over the last 5 years, it is 30 points. Playoff teams score a lot of points these days.

No question that McDermott and the Bills need to find some defensive answers vs. KC (I think a stud pass rusher would go a long way) and it would be really nice to see the playoff defense improve overall---but I think the stat is a bit misleading. Not many teams have had to face a dynasty that many times in such a short span. Manning's Colts only lost to the Pats 2 times in the playoffs. Marino's Dolphins lost to the Bills 3 times over 6 years. Oakland lost to the Steelers 3 of 4 years in the 70s. But how many teams have been up against what we have?

KC has averaged 23.1 points in the divisional round or later vs teams outside of Buffalo.

Buffalo has averaged allowing over 27 points in the divisional round or later.

KC can’t be the only reason. It doesn’t align with the data.

Yes I get that. It was a catchable ball. But by no means was it easy. And that was 4th down. We had 3 downs before that. On 1st down Allen airmailed his pass over the middle. Kincaid was open on the outlet. Hit that on 1st down and the sequence would’ve been a lot easier.

Judas Priest, Allen threw a poor ball on 1st down, so what. Do you expect every pass to be great?

The pass to Kincaid was a very catchable ball by NFL standards.  Sure it wasn't an easy catch but most NFL catches are not easy.

When you people talk about these magical elite QB led game winning drives it's usually not about receivers getting wide open for easy throw and catch plays.  It's about QB's making amazing throws under pressure and receivers making spectacular catches or runs after the catch.  That is how these legends are made.  Allen simply can't do it by himself.  Others have to rise to the occasion and in the playoffs they haven't.

Do you know who was the ONLY Bills skill player who raised his play in a playoff game and shined alongside Allen?  Gabe Davis in the 13 second game.  His 200 plus yards & 4 TD receiving was the only player in the Allen playoff years to put up ELITE stats alongside Allens.

What is Eli Manning without those spectacular catches?  What is Mahomes in the 13 second game without Hill taking a 5 yard crosser 65 yards to the house with his blazing speed or Kelsey making great, contested catch after great contested catch?  Or how about Kelly if Thomas & Reed were not on the field?

Players had 2nd and 3rd jobs when Madden coached

Yeah, he respecified the criteria that wasn’t included initially. Thank you for the clarification though, made more sense why it was just 2. But by that standard Reid should be omitted to just the 5+ seasons as he had Alex Smith to start his tenure?

Burrow, even second half Rivers went off and we needed Josh to put on the cape years ago.

Bills Defense is predicated on stopping QB’s/Teams that make mistakes.

Not many of them in the playoffs.

Bo Nix, Skylar Thompson’s etc., sure.. but there’s a reason we’re 2-0 against Lamar..

..he’s the only elite QB that makes consistent mistakes in the playoffs and the Ravens as a team, the same

Great points.  As you advance deeper into the playoffs the chances of getting the types of QB's & offenses that the McD D shines against get slimmer and slimmer. It's so damn obvious it begs the question as to why we even argue about it.

There really is nothing to discuss or ague at this point.  Too many consecutive years… with pretty much the exact same result.  Either they make significant changes this off season, or they should just come out and say..  our 2025 plan is to hope Reid has a heart attack and Mahomes has a season ending injury.   Surely they see how much of a joke their defense has become?

Look at what you're saying here - it was a big win for the D that they held KC to a chip shot FG AFTER the Bills had tied the game in the 4th quarter.  I'll tell you what a "win" for the D would have been, force a KC punt to give the Bills the ball back with the score tied.  That you would even consider holding the Chiefs to a FG instead of a TD a "win" is just proof of how low you have set the bar for the Bills D.

And as far as Allen's big moment, well there is nothing Allen can do if those around him don't also rise to the occasion:

*  First off, the coaches decided not to have the Bills most dangerous offensive skill player (not named Allen) on the field for that last drive.

*  Second, the Bills dropped the pass that would have converted the 1st down and likely seen Allen lead the Bills to a remarkable last possession win.

So if the one person who has stepped up on offense is not on the field and a TE can't make a 4th down catch that most NFL receivers make is Allen's fault then we'll just have to agree to disagree here.

Yes. Obviously if the defense could do that it would be great. It’s a tough ask to stop the Reid/Mahomes combo completely in the playoffs when the game is on the line. I thought the fg was reasonable.

They failed as a team and Allen is the leader of the team so he has to bear some responsibility. My opinion is the offense has to close the deal in these types of games. We can’t really on the defense against Mahomes.

lol. Good one. So I guess you’re the guy that’s ok with them not making the superbowl when the opportunity was in front of them. It’s awesome if that’s the case. I, for one, would like to see them actually do it. Just like…let’s use your personal dig on me. Real classy btw. If my kid is not achieving his goals I’m not going to say it’s because of everything under the sun except him.

Fair points.  For the record,

I wasn’t trying to make a dig at you.. just thought it was funny to say Allen could do better.    I think we all want the Bills not only in.. but to win the Super Bowl.  We’re just all dealing with the pain of last weeks game in our own ways.

Can anyone verify if the below Tweet is true?

If it IS true, it is surely THE primary reason that Josh Allen doesn't have a ring yet.

For a defensive minded head coach who relentlessly preaches accountability, self-scouting, and growth mindset, this is just mind numbingly bad. Unforgivable, even.

What needs to happen for this to change?
