One day, the majority of Bills fans will realize that McDermott was just as incompetent as the rest of the drought era coaches but lucked into a unicorn QB. Spare me with the fluke 2017 season.

A decent coach and this is already a dynasty with a quarterback like Josh Allen.

The Chiefs hadn't scored over 30 points all season and totaled 212 yards of offense the week before. Yet on Sunday, they scored at will. McDermott is Andy Reid's biatch.

Chiefs didn’t have Hopkins/Hollywood/Kelce/Pacheco/Worthy every game either.

Not saying they would have scored 30 but it’s definitely not unreasonable to assume they could when you’ve got Mahomes back there.

The defense is a problem. Agreed. But the measuring stick for Team A didn’t do _____ isn’t very accurate to use.

Well you can.

16/2 might have us in the superbowl lol

But I get your point. It’s a decent and winning margin.

No you can't

Allen has the best playoff TD/turnover ratio of all time

But it can be better. There is no can’t lol

One TD is a better ratio man. Come on.

Im not saying your wrong and even agreed with you that it should be a winning margin by all historical standards. It’s not, therefor it could be better?

In actual fact if we are going by what’s unfolded. It could be worse… Chiefs dropped a few INTs and we got lucky with some fumbles. One was a turnover as it was on a 2pt conversion…

You can do it either way?

Sure

It could be 100/0

That would be better

Not 99/0?!

J/K

Do you understand how ridiculous it is to have most playoff TDs/turnovers AND most playoff TDS/ game and zero super bowl appearances

Bingo! No matter how you configure the defense a top offense like KC with Mahomes will still get their points. The onus will be on Allen and the offense to finish those potential winning drives the next time they’re in those situations. Learn to finish! Offense has to take it.

Look at it another way.. last year… had Bass made the FG to tie the game, do you have any confidence that the Chiefs would have been stopped with the time left on the clock?

Had Kincaid caught the 4th down pass and we go on to score with let’s say 50 seconds left.  Do you think the chiefs wouldn’t score again?

We’ve all seen it.   Not only does Allen have to score on the last drive to take the lead, but he also has to do it with under 8 seconds on the game clock.   There’s a tremendous pressure on him to be perfect because the defense is barely competent.  That was a bit of the problem in this last game.   Too many 3 and 4th downs that he had to execute to perfection.   He literally had no room for error.  And when he does do amazing and scores on 4th down…. The defense let KC move right down the field and score again without so much as making Mahomes break a sweat.   At some point..  the McD has to own up to his failing as a defensive-minded head coach. And Beane has to own up to not getting a single difference maker on defense since he’s been here.

Im with you man, it’s not acceptable. Defense has let down the offense more often than not but it’s a team game. You win by the plays you make and lose by the plays you don’t. Both left some on the field and let Josh/Cook down.

Yes, and to me, they have maybe the best base they have had with Allen to now do that, as they were very close this year, with their best offense so far.

Current team: the best O line, best OC, best stable of running backs (all under utilized this year, in the running and passing game--not next year..), best slot receiver, best tight ends, and best version of Josh.

Now they will definitely get that stud wide receiver to blow the roof off defenses, and Coleman will also have a big second year.

Unstoppable.

Add in the best defensive lineman they have had (Crosby??) a huge defensive tackle, load up on defense with almost all draft capital, and the Bills become the team. Before Josh is 30. Plenty of time for our own dynasty, right here in Buffalo.

Love the positivity. It’s insane that we went from a rebuild year, to fire and cut everyone, to we are on the upswing, to we are the best to our team except Josh, our OTs and Cook suck again.

We had a great season and should be proud of it. Super Bowl or bust this year. If not, let the heads roll!

You know, that’s probably what bothers me the most about that game… The offense was weird on a lot of plays. No pivoting from their standard go to. You’re playing the best of the best in the playoffs. Execution has to be perfect.

Brady was a damn fine OC but a lot of the failings go on his shoulders for some of those calls. People give him a pass but the guy was on his way to possibly being a HC until he closed the door, hopefully he’s learned.

I know mcbeane have supporters here, but the fact of the matter is if they didn't select Josh Allen neither of their names would have been mentioned once by anyone after they got fired here.  Maybe MCD gets a DC job

Fair point. But don’t they deserve some credit for putting Josh in the position to become Josh?

QBs are failed by their coaches a lot of the time. Josh certainly had his flaws and growing pains to be where he is now.

Unfortunately history is not in their favor. Since 1977 only 2 coaches have won a Super Bowl after 5 seasons with the team.

Got to be more than that?

Madden, Cowher and Reid off the top of my head.

“Most playoff wins when opponent scores 29+ points 1. Patrick Mahomes - 4 2. Tom Brady - 3 3. Peyton Manning - 2 3. Kurt Warner - 2 3. Joe Flacco - 2

Mahomes (4-2) is the only one with a winning record in this split.”

“Patrick Mahomes is the only QB to win a Super Bowl when his team allowed 25.0 points per game or more in the playoffs in both 2019 and 2022.

He won 2 super bowls with his defense allowing 25 points per game or more, in both 2019 and 2022.”

That's impressive for Mahomes.  And while my math may be wrong, isn't 25 points per game considerably less then 33 points per game? Or to put it differently how many Super Bowls would the Bills have made if you take 8 points off the Chiefs score in the Bills last 3 playoff losses to KC?

For the last 5 years there were 13 playoff games for the bills, the D has given up an average of 21.5 points a game and the O has scored an average of 26 points a game.

For the last 5 years, KC has played 15 playoff games. The D has given up an average of 23.1 points per game and the O has scored an average of 27.6 points.

Can anyone verify if the below Tweet is true?

If it IS true, it is surely THE primary reason that Josh Allen doesn't have a ring yet.

For a defensive minded head coach who relentlessly preaches accountability, self-scouting, and growth mindset, this is just mind numbingly bad. Unforgivable, even.

What needs to happen for this to change?

Well... I kinda thought it was obvious... Joe Marino went in depth about this last off season... Then the gave up 32 to KC again... And it would have been worse if Mahomes does not butterfingers that snap...

It is what it is... Defensive HC though!!! So we've got that going for us... B-)
