you can say the same for Jones/ Kelce/Mahomes

somehow they're still top of the league

Imagine if we had a couple All-Pro caliber safeties, with an All-Pro Caliber slot DB, and an all-Pro caliber off ball linebacker. No chance we’d let up 38.

Certainly not 42

If I was McDermott and Beane I would make a thousand copies of this graph and pin it throughout the building.  Do whatever it takes to fix this.

I've seen a lot of McDermott's defenses at this point. They are too soft.

I actually think we have the personnel to have a much more swarming, aggressive defense - but it seems like we play safe a lot.  That last drive Baltimore had was a prime example, as were the 2 first downs KC had at the end of last week's game.

I like McD as an HC.  He's a good culture guy & good w/ the players.  But can you imagine how different this team would be if we had hired someone like Saleh as our DC?

The defense has cost us in these playoff games, and they have cost Allen as far as legacy.

I think it's misleading since we're looking at only the last 5 losses for the Bills and comparing it against ALL playoff games for other teams.

The current Steelers team under Tomlin has lost their last 6 playoff games while allowing 38.3 PPG.

Still, I think McD's defense has been unforgivably bad in the playoffs and frankly should've been fired after the 13 second game.

He's never getting fired. Terry is too terrified to do it.  Sean has this folk hero following because he dug us out of the drought. If he hadn't acquired Josh, he would've been fired years ago.  He and Beane have done a poor job building this defense, whether you believe in the nickel zone or not.  All we can do as a fanbase is continue to support Josh.  And try to convince ourselves that the yearly "Schotty awards" will be the culmination.

Can anyone verify if the below Tweet is true?
If it IS true, it is surely THE primary reason that Josh Allen doesn't have a ring yet.
For a defensive minded head coach who relentlessly preaches accountability, self-scouting, and growth mindset, this is just mind numbingly bad. Unforgivable, even.
What needs to happen for this to change?

Wow, but where do Chiefs stand as far as points given up per game in their playoff games against the Bills?

28.5 per game

So, right up there with all time worst defensive performances in NFL history, right?

Hard to imagine a team with such a porous defense winning it all, ever.  Must have just gotten lucky, as they likely will become again in a few weeks.

Or, maybe both the Chiefs and Bills have two of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, with almost unstoppable offenses?

I considered this before the stat came out but it would have taken me forever to research. I think it is something like avg PPG in our losses, vs average playoff defense PPG. Its not logical how that stat is being used.

I had considered the concept of looking at all games, divisional or later. Our avg PPG vs any team that had a minimum of 3 games since 2020. I did the ones below. I can finish it later if people find it useful.

Ravens 4 games 17.75

Bengals 5 games 19.2

Chiefs 14 games 20.64

49ers 7 games 21.43

Bills 7 games 27.71

Ya Taron didn't have a great season.

And of course injuries basically wiped the last two years away from Milano

I really think 3 corners and 2 safeties could get drafted in this draft. Dline and secondary needs to be the focus

The DL and secondary both need a makeover in speed and size. If I were Beane, I’d bank on Rousseau signing elsewhere next season, so that’s another spot that will need to be replaced.

We scored 42 points against the Rams, and LOST, while we had 70 people over for the neighborhood  holiday party. I just know they all talk about me behind my back now!   😊

Josh Allen in just the div rd and AFC championship has

A passer rating of 91

10 passing tds 2 int

6.4 y/ pa.  - this needs to improve

15 total tds and 2 turnovers

He's playing at a really good level but he still needs to take it up a notch past the wildcard. ( For his standard) His ypa drops considerably past the wildcard.

Fyi burrow has basically the same numbers if you include all his playoff numbers in every round. Burrow has a slightly higher ypa in the AFC championship at 6.6

I just figured they have probably heard all those words before. Tell them I had a bad reaction to some medications, and make them prove me wrong!

While I'm purely speculating, I don't think the bills changed anything defensively when they played kc last week. Kc on the other hand did. They sent exotic blitzes and confused our offense. I would expect McDermott would know to do something like kc did on defense, but he didn't. I believe he thought they could beat them outright and it's just stupid and ignorant Imo.

Our offense was just as unimaginative and stagnant. Both side were coached at a high school level vs a pro level sadly.

Yes I agree. It actually blows my mind. I mean, it's the Chiefs. You don't know by now that you might have to think outside the box a little? Kc has beaten us 3 straight times in the playoffs, and yet they still changed it up, even with the advantage of being at home. McDermott talked about how it was just a play here or there that was the difference in the game, but maybe if they were a wee bit more creative, they could've just won by 10 points 🤷

Been waiting on a McD defense to step up and confuse Mahomes just once in the playoffs. Just once. Really thought it’d be this year where their offense underwhelmed the entire season. At this point, 4 losses later, I don’t think McD can outsmart Reid for a game, much less a half. Resigned to the fact that Josh and the offense have to go win it when the opportunity presents itself. 0-2 in that regard.
