Yea I understand all of that and agree with you on the overall premise except I do think they have better defensive players.

The thing is, doesn't every team have this issue when compared to the chiefs?  It just sucks worse for us because we have to see them in the AFC playoffs.

If the chiefs win sunday that means they beat all that magic with the eagles.  The eagles replaced their coordinators.  They changed.  They drafted excellent players and have a defense that is so good up front they basically never ever blitz.

so if the eagles lose, just like the 49ers last year aren't all these organizations in the same boat?  The bills score more on the chiefs than anyone else regularly also.  We know why that is.  They have an amazing player.

The 49ers have had outstanding defensive and THE offensive coach in the nfl.  Lost to the chiefs twice and scored less than buffalo.  They have excellent personnel on defense too.  Just like our games with KC its a play here and there that cost them.

I think we can all agree we need Andy Reid to retire and go away.  That will solve Buffalo's problems.  I would just like him to go away in general because he and his family suck monkey balls but that is a different thing.

Hurts is good but he's not a great QB like Allen.

The difference between those teams and the bills is it's generally the lack of a few blue chip players around Allen that have failed in these games. Mainly on defense

The only player that truly raised his level in a big moment was Gabe Davis. Diggs was really good vs Indy and Baltimore in 20... That's it.

That final blitz Spags threw at us. I can't imagine McDermott ever doing something like that. On a critical 4th down to maybe end the game, no way. It's frustrating that our rival has the best defensive coach in the NFL as a coordinator, while our head coach is defense-minded and never has an amazing play call like that in the playoffs.

The blitz I'll always remember from McD came at the end of the Broncos home game last season and the subsequent FG.  Didn't go quite as well.

McD's feel for the game on defense leaves something to be desired.  On the other side, he certainly has never fully embraced a modern passing game, nor allowed them to develop one these last few seasons.

Better check that

Spagnuolo was hired January 24, 2019. Chiefs lost to the Patriots 31-37 January 20th, 2019.

In other words it took the Chiefs all of four days to lose a playoff game w their generational QB due to a defensive collapse before they said 'nope, not doing that again!' and fired the guy in charge of the defense

That's technically a moot point because the head coach is in charge

Like if sean McDermott gets the blame, then so does Andy Reid

Andy Reid is technically then in charge of three straight playoff losses with an average of 30 + points a game then

Steve spagnola also has been gashed plenty of times in his career he's not Dick LeBeau.. he benefits from Chris Jones ,the ability to bump and run 10 yd downfield and good referee calls

Andy Reid technically is giving up 30 points per game in his last three losses then

I'm not impressed with Philly's coaching. I think they will lose for that reason despite the talent gap.

I think San Fran lost last year because Purdy is a marginal QB talent that has been elevated by an elite system, and he just couldn't hang against a dynasty.

If our defense performed as well against KC in the playoffs as our offense does, we would be the dynasty.

There is only one Allen.

On paper this week The eagles offense is better than the chiefs defense and should win the matchup.  On paper they should be able to throw the ball all over the field vs the chiefs nickel corner and linebackers.  I guess we will see if they do.  I doubt they will.

Same is true on the other side of the ball.  The eagles abilities rushing four should give them all kinds of advantages against a mostly short passing game and bad running game.

But we all know how this goes.

Yup. This eagle roster is awesome. It's pretty much elite almost everywhere. It's the one roster that I agree is better than Buffalo. Not Baltimore....

If they lose it will be because of hurts. It will also let the bills off the hook so to speak a little bit.

Ppl will say " hey if this eagles team couldn't beat kc maybe Buffalo was really the only team authentically in KCs way"

This will especially be true if kc blows them out.

Mahomes in a dome with a fully rested and healthy worthy, Hollywood and kelce could be lights out. Thuney at Lt has calmed things down.

I also think trey Smith is the best guard in the NFL and can hold his own with Carter. Caliendo is a issue tho

Bill belichick the greatest coach of all time also has 31 points per game against in his last five playoff losses

Like usually when you lose the other team scoring 27 plus in the NFL in the playoffs against a good team

not to be a jerk but I said back in september the only team good enough to beat the chiefs because of the way they play was Buffalo and that is because Allen overcomes all of it.  Until he needs someone to step up on the defenisve side in the playoffs.  that he can't overcome.

If the eagles lose I will actually have been proven right for a change.

What a thing to imagine being.  The Bills could be multiple super bowl winners at this point.  Same could be said of the 49ers I guess and maybe the eagles after sunday.

We are to the chiefs at the moment as the Browns were to the bronco's in the 80s.  It was just always something with the browns in those games.

I've always thought the better example is that the Bills are to the Chiefs as the Colts were to the Patriots. Year after year Manning tried to find a way to beat the Patriots in the AFC championship game, and he had only limited success.

I like that comparison because in both cases we're talking about all-time great quarterbacks: Brady and Manning, Mahomes, and Allen.

I think it's much more historical. This could be a Jerry West vs Bill Russell situation. Only difference is it's in the same conference

It's completely possible Allen vs mahomes happens 5-7 more times in the next 10-12 years

Allen had the ball and opportunity to tie or go ahead. He didn’t do it. He needs to perform in that situation.

Cool story.

It sucks that allen tripped a wide open Amari Cooper on a perfect play call which caused him to gain 5 yards instead of probably north of 60.

It also sucks that he knocked the ball away from Dalton Kincaid.

I wish Allen didn't do those things in the game.  Mac Jones is a free agent maybe they can get him in here.

Yea thats true.  Manning was a big part of the losing though and I don't believe Allen is in any way.

I mean I don't recall manning giving the colts the lead at the end of the game.  Might have happened but I don't remember it.  I do remember manning being confused and turning the ball over a lot though.  I also remember manning complaining all offseason in 03 and 04 that the pats defense cheats and gets to hold longer than any other team.  He specifically complained about their linebackers and safeties holding up their tight ends all the time.  The league appeased him and really started emphasizing that 5 yard rule after that.

Bernie Kosar on the other hand did give his team the lead late to which they blew it in 86, then byner fumbled in 87!  Heartbreaking stuff like 13 seconds.

I guess you could also make the case the Bills are in the same boat as the 90's Packers (most overrated team ever).  They could not beat Dallas in the regular season or the postseason.  They only won a superbowl in 96 because the niners had leveraged their future in 94 and then those guys walked and they weren't as good and because Dallas fired Jimmie Johnson or he quite whatever and Dallas limped into 96 with an old exhausted team with no head coach.  The panthers knocked out Dallas for them and then GB killed them.  Its like if Houston had Beat KC three weeks ago.  Buffalo would have killed houston at home.

Oh well.  either way.  I am going to be watching Barney Miller re runs or something sunday to avoid looking at andy reid's face.

If management is happy being competitive every year then McDermott will be here for the duration of Allen’s career, and I believe that’s exactly the case.

McDermott isn’t going anywhere, but I don’t think it’s ridiculous to suggest at some point the higher expectations demand a change at head coach.

Pegula loves McDermott and he’s not going anywhere in my opinion.

You are correct that Pegula isn't firing McDermott, and we should be grateful considering his track record hiring coaches.

I also can't help but laugh at the expression "higher expectations." As if a Lombardi trophy is just waiting for us if only change regimes one more time.

They stopped changing regimes because they drafted 17 lol… had they not drafted him they would have continued on the regime change merry go round.

Bills will be a contender as long as he’s healthy and playing, that’s why expectations have changed and it’s why not meeting those expectations brings questions as to what changes need to be made to go from contender to actually winning a championship.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single person suggesting a change of HC guarantees a SB victory.

Everyone who wants to fire McDermott believes that. 😂

There's also a belief that Allen is the sole reason we are good, that coaching only gets in the way of his greatness.
