Trump has consistently said, and used the fentanyl issue as a “national emergency” trigger to justify the tariffs. He’s a liar, and not much smarter than Biden. I really think he responded to the markets and saw the Maria Bartiromo clip on Fox today and pulled the plug (again).  Nothing more or less than that.  It's asinine that we have this flip flopping every few hours in the White House, but hey, 12 weirdos aren't going to play girls sports, so it's worth wiping out a trillion in market cap at the whim of this fool.

I'm not sure it's completely about attention on this issue.  He's been a mercantilist going all the way back at least until the 80's when he thought Japan was ripping us off.  He ignores any economist worth their salt on the issue so the only thing that really stops him is if the stock market tanks.

Trump's clown of a commerce secretary was on CNBC yesterday and Sara Eisen was trying, very, very nicely, to pin the guy down on what the purpose of the tariffs were and he kept saying that too many people were dying from fentanyl. She asked, so if we get fewer autopsy reports of drug overdoses we can lower the tariffs?  The dude didn't know what to say so he switched to bringing manufacturing back to USA, or something, Just a total sh it show. The other guy on the show said something like Trump has no clue what he wants and the guy broke into his "Trump is smartest person ever" mantra before going back to fentanyl BS.

Why not approach the situation with a level head instead of a flamethrower? The answer is that Trump and his team are morons. Trumps biggest lie on tariffs. Today he decides to attack Canadian Dairy. 

Here are the facts.

1. Hormones allowed in dairy products in the US are not allowed in Canada. Perhaps he should talk to RFKennedy Jr. About that

2. Negotiations between the countries lead to an agreement of a certain level of products allowed into Canada from the US.  Those levels are for milk, cheese, butter. Since this was bargained some years ago around 2018 by Mr Trump, those levels have NEVER been reached by US dairy. NEVER. Over those levels tariffs apply. UNTIL THOSE LEVELS ARE REACHED ZERO TARIFFS ARE APPLIED. There goes lie 627 for trump this week. 

 

Canadian dairy farmers, 2700 of them belong to a jointly owned organization which sets prices and production levels to help small farmers, much like the wheat farmers in the US. It is successful and allows foreign products to compete. England, Germany, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Netherlands are all major competitors in the Canadian market. 2 years ago Canada rejected higher levels of supply from England because of US pressure as the US wanted more sales yet has not even reached their targets. Why does this happen, because of potential dumping, just like the US does to make sure their own wine industry can compete...called anti dumping. Hope trump has heard of that.
