'i found it sad, but expected how the  legacy media who tried to spend four years telling us that inflation was no biggie had a countdown to increased grocery expense and "how much should we expect to pay. Eff you legacy media. You yet again got proven wrong and continue to lose credibility by the day.

I don't know where this quote is from? But it's horse *****. All I heard on the news was about inflation and no one ever once said it wasn't bad. This stuff is so easy to see through.

That is just from a quick search. I know that it benefits the left to rewrite history, but they only started to acknowledge inflation in 2024. Will Trump be better? That remains to been seen, but he has Canada and Mexico negotiating for better terms.

You realize you can just sit out the obvious wins, right? Trump has each country agreeing to assist along the border and help stop the drugs, that is a win

He didn’t do anything. This is a Canadian policy they already agreed to months ago.

He wins by … making them agree to a policy they announced months ago?

I guess we can close this thread, the "point" of the tariffs is obvious now.

If you're going to start a trade war, maybe extract something more meaningful than 10,000 troops on a 5500 mile border to deal with a fentanyl problem that isn't really much of a problem.  During the last fiscal year, 43 pounds of fentanyl were seized on the Canadian border, which is 0.2% of total fentanyl seizures.  Big whoop.

Other than to stir things up which Trump likes to do, there just really isn't much point to this.

This looks like it was agreed to in the face of the tariffs as per Trudeau himself.  He didn’t say we were already doing this.

“Much of the plan had already been announced by Canada in December.”

Some of the plan was already announced, which was in response to Trump, and more happened because of meeting yesterday. So in other words, all the change is from Trump.

I think there's a bigger plan here beyond using tariffs as a negotiating tool. I suspect these tariffs on Mexico and Canada, and those on China, are elements of some larger strategic plan for a modern version of the Monroe Doctrine with a goal of driving Chinese influence out of the Western Hemisphere. Discussions already with Panama about the canal would seem to point to this goal.

You know what’s a great way to counter Chinese influence? Not erasing USAID and other sources of soft power abroad.

If that's what you want to tell yourself.

I heard bitching about gas prices going up not long after Biden got in office. Who is trying to rewrite history? Canada and Mexico negotiated for what they already pledged.

You still think that organization is doing good?

Exactly, and I'll bet you that the renewed focus of US/CAN/MEX targeting the cartels will focus on those with ties adversarial intelligence agencies.
