The Pratt & Whitney TF30-P-414A engine was notorious for compressor stalls, which had claimed the lives of many Tomcat crews before Hultgreen.

Just out of curiosity, what happened to Dale "Snort" Snodgrass?

She caused the compressor stall by jamming rudder in while trying to correct for a poor alignment to the carrier's final bearing.

She had done this before, was known for it, and should have been removed from this situation, and would have been if not for her gender.

Snort left a control lock in place. It would have taken you ten seconds to find that, so I'm suspicious you have another motive.

You certainly didn't need me to answer that.

Well not Maga. You can't teach those people anything. Dumb as a stump!

Your sarcasm aside your belief is very damaging to our society in general  and education specifically. Your inability to understand the fact that some people are not capable of grasping the complexity of being a surgeon, or a doctor, or even an ATC is why your beliefs lead to unnecessary deaths and problems. Why do you believe something so illogical when we live in a world were 40% of college grads can't be made to understand how a simple loan works?

Snodgrass lost his life due to an incomplete preflight check. Despite being one of the most respected F-14 Tomcat pilots, he died in a prop plane accident because he didn't follow basic protocols.

Aviation shows no mercy - regardless of gender, even a small oversight can be fatal.

Ya. So?

Not sure what point you're are trying to make here, and I am familiar with both situations.

Completely unrelated.

She caused the compressor stall, then selected burner on the other engine, further exacerbating the roll problem.

Thank goodness the RIO got out in time.

How old are you?

Case closed.

Not sure your point here.

I am old enough to have flown fighters from carriers, with over 300 carrier landings, graduated from Top Gun as an adversary instructor, fought against every US fighter and many foreign ones, did 30+ years as an airline pilot, serving as an international check captain on the 757/767 and doing my last five on the 777.

Does this somehow make me ineligible to have a view?

It's all they have. They've been exposed and are out of power. Their bitterness in losing this last election will bring out nothing but contempt and hate. Even at the expense of others demise. Sad.

Your president and VP blamed minorities for the crash. Sit down.

As I have stated in the past, you are the reason I homeschooled. If you have a willing student and you Can't teach them something that is on you not them. Some people may take longer top pick it up, you work with them until they do. If you don't you suck as a teacher. I can see it now, Tim is teaching and tells his student "no Trent you can't learn that you're too stupid".

I can't imagine what you tell a minority or a woman?

I don't know anyone who actually believes this.

You're the first I've run across!

Sure ANYONE can be a brain surgeon or a rocket scientist or a software engineer if you give them enough time. Just like monkeys that hit a keyboard for an infinite amount of time will eventually produce Shakespeare.

Everyone can solve differential equations and ace physical chemistry....just give them time!

With each passing day 4th&schlong adds bricks to his personal fortress of stupidity.

I teach basic geometry, but even my topic is too difficult for some. Your belief, extended to its logical conclusion, is that anyone can dunk a basketball if they worked hard enough, which obviously is untrue and only the mentally stunted would make such a claim. You are similarly as stunted

Seems like a sensible time for Trump/Vance to push for FAA privatization, no? Or are we going to waste the crisis by talking about DEI?

Seems like a good idea. Article is closing in on 2 years old. Any thoughts on why the previous administration had no interest?

I'd be all over it.

Should have been done years ago.

Still DEI in the existing FAA is a serious issue.

I used to play in an adult basketball league in suburban Chicago with a number of controllers, and they never stopped complaining about it.
