Love his attitude and I hope we locked up with (and reasonable) contract. I love how the league is shifting again to making RBs matter to combat nickel and two high defenses. Good chance that with his brother Dalvin in his ear, he and his agent hold out this coming training camp for $20m. My understanding is this is typical for RBs entering year 4 of rookie contract (if they are top end talent, which he is). So expect a big sh-t show over this come April. Quote

Outside of Josh Allen James Cook is our best player and hardest working player. The guy is a beast . Everyone including GM And coaches thought he was a 3rd down back but turns out he an every down workhorse. 1 Quote
billieve420 Posted Sunday at 06:55 PM Posted Sunday at 06:55 PM Like Cook but for me tag him and let him walk when time comes. I see a very good pIayer but not someone who is irreplaceable. I can’t justify paying a RB when you have a Franchise QB on the books. To me the offensive line is the most important component from both a passing/rushing perspective. Invest your resources in the offensive live and then continue drafting replacements at RB. Can’t factor in sentimental feelings when it comes to managing team. I thought Ray Davis looked solid when he was in there for being a rookie and if he ends up being the better pass protector then could eventually be an upgrade. Quote

He has never missed serious time or had something happen to him that could effect his play negatively or possibly re-injure going forward. 1 Quote

He's just looking out for his brother. I don't think it will be an outrageous contract. A 4 year extension for cook in his prime with an out after 2 yrs is cool Edited Sunday at 08:29 PM by Kelly to Allen Quote

tigerthelion Posted Sunday at 10:48 PM Posted Sunday at 10:48 PM At 20 million, of course you don't resign Cook. Can't see his ask being that high, though. We'll see what transpires. Cook is awesome but I don't think you sign any running back for 20 million. Quote

Have a little Marshawn vibe when he spoke but definitely more low-key, not looking for trouble type of guy. When they talk about generational wealth, you can see his eye lit and even said "I'm trying." If the Bills approach him thsi off-season, you get the feel a deal would be done, probably more reasonable than you think. My prediction is, like Beane has always done, Bills will extend him late in training camp before the 2025 season. So they get to see how the guy looks, and probably get the best version because they have been working hard off-season for their contract year. The projection is a bit tricky. Is 2024 the best of Cook's career? If not, how much better? One part of his weakness is blocking, which has prevented him from being on the field for 3rd down. Cook has gotten stronger noticeably in 2024. I don't know he'll improve much in that area going forward. Very reasonable to assume he'll keep the current level of output when he's 26, 27, and 28. Would Cook be willing to sign a 3 year extension and hope for another contract when he's 28? Would love a 3 year extension. At 13-15 per but that is wishful thinking with way out after 2 years. A josh rework and extension could make it work. At beginning of year I was a lot higher on extending Groot, Bernard, and Benford than cook but now think priorities need to be Benford and cook. Quote
