The Firebaugh Kid Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago There's hits and misses in the draft. KC has their share of poor picks as well. Coaching/scheme can overcome personnel deficiencies. 2 Quote
TheFunPolice Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) Nothing is going to change. This is the coach and GM who will get Allen's entire career. It just is. Allen will lead the team to enough wins and playoff berths that "you can't fire those guys!" and "you could do a lot worse..." I remind everyone: Jim Caldwell went 14-2 and took the Colts to a Super Bowl in the AFC when Tom Brady and Big Ben and the Ravens defense were obstacles. they lost (got outcoached by Payton) but they got there and if they recover that onside kick after halftime they almost certainly win. So McDermott will probably get there at some point with this team. And once you're in it you have a chance to win it. Allen will never have a different HC in Buffalo, or a different GM. Beane basically works for McDermott and gets him the undersized defensive players he wants to run his sit back, keep the game in front of you and wait for the offense to make a mistake scheme. It worked against the Ravens because we got lucky. When have you ever seen Lamar just pat the football like he's burping a baby and just lob it nice and soft into centerfield where there's nobody but a Bills DB there for the easiest INT you'll ever see? The guy threw like 4 INT all season. But it worked that day. We need it to work 3-4 times in a row for a playoff run, that's the issue. Edited 11 hours ago by TheFunPolice 3 1 1 Quote

Looking back, he was never that guy. He literally was a top 5 receiver most of his tenure here. Also, what did Kelce do that was special on Sunday? we gotta stop with the fake narrative that Allen has just played with bums his whole career. The Chiefs are on their 3rd SB after trading away Hill. Their offensive weapons are very meh. 1 Quote
BananaB Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Had to turn Beane off. Sick of hearing the same answers year after year. Next year we’ll be another play away because they refuse to make ***** changes. 2 1 Quote

(Clutch wise) Also, I’m excited to see what a healthy Curtis Samuel can do in this offense. I don’t think there is a single poster here who would have predicted back in the summer that Hollins would be a bigger contributor than Coleman. Kudos to Hollins. 1 2 Quote

If we draft so terribly, it sounds like we are over performing. They are overperforming because we have Josh Allen and have managed to find value in the later rounds, but that's hard to sustain year after year. Later round picks are later round picks for a reason and are harder to hit on. If you keep whiffing on your top draft picks, it's eventually going to catch up to you. 1 3 Quote

Chiefs "elite" players drafted outside of Mahomes are Kelce (2013) and Jones (2016) - Veach wasn't even the ***** GM for those drafts. Adjustments need to be made, and have been made in each subsequent season since McDermott and Beane have been here. I'm sorry they happen to exist during what is going to be the greatest dynasty in NFL history. McBeane are really ***** good, and KC is All-Time great. In the history of the league, really ***** good gets it done in every other era. There is nothing being said at this press conference that disgusts me more as the BS narrative that KC is unbeatable so we should just be happy to get as far as we do. With remotely competent coaching we take the 13 seconds playoff games from KC. With good coaching we take at least two playoff games. Heck, we have gone to the playoffs seven times under McDermott and last season was the first time the team we lost to did not lose their next game. It’s a weak, disgusting and false narrative. 1 1 2 Quote

How do you think McDermott and Beane are viewed? They get credit for Allen. And he is why they're still here. That's not meant as a huge insult either.. if you don't have an elite QB, unless your name is Mike Tomlin, you have a limited shelf life as a GM/HC. Quote

They don’t freak out every loss. If you add a weapon and game wrecker on defense, they will be hard to beat. Just need to find one. 1 Quote
Billsfan4588 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I had hope that Beane learned something this year, guess not. "I don't expect us to be big spenders this year." Where's the money? I know we've extended some core guys and probably will do so again, but for as conservative as beane has mostly been, why are we so cap poor? We're cap poor regardless. Bring the talent, and dump some draft picks for proven players, you're whiffing regardless. Quote

They designed a game plan against us featuring getting rid of the ball in 1.6 seconds. Which was easy since Elam was giving worthy 10 yards of cushion. 1 Quote
TheFunPolice Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I can't think of a single NFL coach with more than 1 year of experience as a HC that wouldn't win 11-12 games with this team as long as Allen is healthy. Having the superstar QB is that impactful. Our defensive scheme is flawed and does not work against great teams. Like hardly ever, unless they royally screw up like the Ravens did. But you need that to happen 2-3 times in a row against the best QBs and teams and coaches in the league. 3 Quote

jaybeezee Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I posted this in another thread for Beane being on the clock several days ago and he did/said exactly what I thought, or predicted: I was thinking the same thing. I told people that he would hide out until Wednesday at the latest. He hasnt got much to say outside of the fact the he is dedicated to righting the ship and will exhaust all measures and leave stone unturned. That is until FA hits and he over pays some scrub like he did with Harty and then tell us how we are focused on resigning our own in the form of Damar and these other JAGS that couldnt get it done. It is time to move on from him now!!! McDermott too. This was as pathetic of a presser as I have heard. It almost as if we didnt lose the biggest game in several years to him. Shame on Josh too. It's not like i expect him to rant and rave to the fans or media about wanting change, but I am not too sure if because he is the best that we ever had, we cannot see through the fact that he is content with things the way that they are right now. 1 1 Quote

And the Bills can just about match this list: James Cook - 2nd round pick Spencer Brown - 3rd round pick Dion Dawkins - 2nd round pick Greg Rousseau - late 1st round pick Christian Benford - 6th round pick Terrell Bernard - 3rd round pick Kalil Shakir - 5th round pick Taron Johnson - 4th round pick O'Cyrus Torrence - 2nd round pick Matt Milano - 5th round pick There's 10 to the KC 8. I will give you that Kelce and Jones are outstanding, McDuffie is right up there too, but Bills' list has 2 All Pros (Johnson, Milano), pro bowl (Dawkins), pro bowl caliber (Brown, Cook, Benford) and the rest are above average starters. And we will see about Bishop, Dorian Williams. 5 1 Quote

I'm sure all of the nostra-dumbasses telling Beane what he should do and say manage billion dollar enterprises and are at the top of their profession. Carry on, "fans"... I think you can be fan and have views, thoughts and critiques. We’re consumers with emotional attachment. Tens of thousands called the Pinto a terrible car. Most didn’t run Ford or GM. I also don’t think having a critical view means you don’t support the franchise. Imagine a world where fans of anything couldn’t be critical. What you describe is unimaginably weird. I think some more effective drafting and situational decision making, not to mention execution, would mean a championship or two. Go Bills. 1 Quote

Tomlin went to 2 Super Bowls with Big Ben and won 1. So "Tomlin with a QB" equals 2 SB berths when the AFC has 2 Pat Mahomes to deal with in Brady and Manning. Plus the Ravens defense in the playoffs. McDermott has made the AFC Title Game twice with Allen, winning zero. Edited 11 hours ago by TheFunPolice Quote
