It's effectively replaced "Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?" as the official team mantra. I mean, look at their record compared to the rest of the AFC. He’s not exactly wrong. They continue to struggle beating Kansas City as does the rest of the league. 2 Quote

You can be respectful to refereeing in general and the league and still say “they blew two calls.” Beane is representing the league to the team and the fans. I’d like him to represent the team and the fans to the league. I’d also like to hear whether or not the league agree they blew a couple, of if they defended the calls. If they defended, I’d love to hear the analysis. So much of this is “you, the paying customer, aren’t going to hear what we talk about it.” I’d love to be a reporter. He did that though, he literally said that was a first down by Allen and that Worthy didn't make that catch. Quote

Why do we keep using first time OC's/DC's for a supposed SB contending team with a MVP QB in his prime. I know people are gonna say that Brady was an OC before, but he sucked at his job with Carolina. What does Carolina have to do with anything? Brady just led the Bills to a historical offensive season. They are the 16th highest scoring offense in NFL history...16th highest scoring team in history. They had the least % of plays in NFL history that resulted in a sack or turnover. Josh set numerous individual records. Shakir set the record for most consecutive targets caught in history. We had the most games in NFL history with a 20+ margin of defeat. So how is anyone complaining about the hiring of Brady at this point, let alone his time in Carolina. Whats next, people going to complain about Bill Belichick's time in Cleveland now? And the Panthers suck as an organization...they couldn't get anything out of Baker or Darnold both who had great seasons and took their teams to the playoffs while Carolina continues to flutter in irrelevancy without a proven QB. Blaming any OC for stuggles in Carolina who haven't had a QB since Cam Newton fell apart is wild to me. 2 Quote

Brady called a bad game! Face the facts. So did Babich Quote

Yet when the bell rings and it's time for him to do the most important part of his job, game management. He fails.... I'll never trust him again. He is 100% in charge of hiring all the several people who he's had to fire. Call them scapegoats or just underwhelming hires, it doesn't matter. Sean hired them. He's a reflection of his own hires. This year the planets all lined up. I doubt they do that again in my lifetime. 2 1 1 Quote

Yes, but that’s not what I’m asking for. Forgive my lack of clarity. We all disagree with the calls. I’d love to hear the argument he makes and the league’s response while both are looking at the film. An explanation of you will. I am a seeker of clarity, acknowledging nothing changes the outcome. Others want less. To each his own. He disagrees? Why, and what did the league say? He stopped at “oh, well …”. Quote

He told the league he thought both calls were wrong, the league stood by them. The exact detail of that conversation can never come out well for the league, hence they are keen to avoid it. Quote
PepeSilvia Posted January 31 Posted January 31 (edited) For a guy who preaches accountability, MCD seems like a guy who is being very slippery and not taking accountability for his defense. “We held them to a field goal on the last drive and had a chance to go win it” sounds an awful lot like a guys defense that gave up 32 points to a team that hadn’t scored 30 all year, and feels like holding KC to a field goal is a win and placing the blame on the offense. Houston held them to 212 total yards the week before. Baltimore shut them out in the second half of the ‘23 afc championship. Cincinnati shut them out in the second half of the ‘21 afc championship, so it can be be done, MCD’s defense just can’t get it it done. Whether it be from a scheme standpoint of lack of top tier talent to get the job done. also, MCD saying Kincaid “needs to put on playing weight” sounds an awful lot like a guy trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You don’t draft guys who don’t fit your scheme and force them into it. Embrace what the guy is, a slight framed receiving tight end not an in line blocker. If that’s what you wanted, you should have drafted a blocking tight end. it just sounds like an evasive approach to what the real issue is 8 years into this regime. A defense that fails time after time in big games. A coaching staff that fails and seems underprepared and tight in big games. A lack of top tier talent on both sides of the ball surrounding a once in a generation quarterback. first it was Leslie Frazier, then they had the overtime rules changed, then it was Ken Dorsey, now it’s the bad calls by the refs and his defense gave the offense a chance to win the game but it didn’t. He’s ran out of people to blame. edit: let’s not even discuss bringing back Smiley and that god awful special teams unit that seems unprepared every time it steps foot on the field Edited January 31 by PepeSilvia 1 1 Quote

You can be accountable, or you can go with the flow knowing the league prefers you do just that. I’m not fooling myself. I’m saying “Big Baller Beane” leaves me a little unsatisfied.
