major Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Our game this past Sunday will live in infamy. Fans are finally seeing that the league is questionable and turning to social media and the internet to complain/boycott. Only takes a few calls to go a certain way to get a good story line/desired result. It brought up memories for me of past games where I saw this type of behavior. Here they are in no particular order: Super Bowl 37- Raiders/Gruden bowl, Super Bowl 40- Refs cause Seahawks to lose, Super Bowl LV: Tampa Bay Super Bowl win (only home team to play in home Super Bowl was during COVID 🤔, and Brady got a ring away from New England), Super Bowl 36- Pats spied on the Rams, New Orleans wins a Super Bowl right after hurricane katrina, etc…  What questionable games come to your mind in NFL history? 1 1 Quote
Special K Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Knowing what we know now about Belichick with Spygate and all, I am sure while he was DC of the Giants he illegally taped the Bills practices for Super Bowl 25......no way he could slow down that powerful Offense without a little help. 2 1 7 1 Quote

reddogblitz Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I played on the Seahawks Drumline in 2005 and we got to go to the game. Super Bowl XL to me takes the cake. The NFL just wanted The Bus to retire winning the SB in his hometown. What a great story! The referee calls were so bad. Even John Madden couldn't believe it.  The one where Tommy won it with the Bucs was really bad too. Also the one where the Rams beat the Bengals at home in their brand new fancy stadium had some bad calls to like a PI late in the game as the Rams were moving in for the go ahead score.  Not sure if refs were involved or whatever but Super Bowl III always seemed squarely to me. I remember my Dad's friends talking about it. 3 Quote
GETTOTHE50 Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Robey committed the worse PI in all of history against the saints and didn’t get called 🤣🤣🤣  game is so fixed. It’s not even a debate anymore  3 2 4 Quote

I'm not as confident. Kelly ran the offense, so were there really any signals to steal? The Giants defensive plan centered on taking away the passing game by jamming to disrupt timing, being extremely physical in the secondary, and changing coverage schemes every series or two. The most effective thing they did was hold the ball on offense for a 2:1 TOP advantage. Even if Belichick was secretly taping I'm not sure there was much to be gained anyways. 2 Quote

Ralonzo Posted January 30 Posted January 30 People don't want to see the Chrefs complete their 3-cheat. NFL thinks they do because Taytay. Interesting to see which way it goes in the ratings... I for one usually watch just to do the commercials slam but I don't think I can take it when the Shield drags Kermit and Mr Swift across the finish line for the umpteenth time. Why aggravate myself. 1 1 2 1 Quote

Orlando Buffalo Posted January 30 Posted January 30 The one that bugged me was the PIT-ARI SB where the officials were overturned multiple times on review and then did not review the final minutes fumble(I think fumble). The officials that day did a poor job and then did not slow down to check a game deciding call. 32 minutes ago, poblano said:  It is easier to blame or place the blame on someone else than accept your own mistakes. Kelly was calling plays in that SB and was forgetting the run game although NY played most of the game with only two DL.   We need to face games avoiding depending on things we cannot control, referees are one of those things, and try to plan and play better than we have on the past  You probably believe the 1960 Cotton Bowl was called fairly then? Quote

If someone blames the officials for every loss your comment is valid, but when officials multiple times get the calls wrong and they all go one way then the criticism is valid and that is the point of the thread. The Cotton Bowl I am referring to is famous for its blatant one sided officiating but despite that Syracuse still won. 1 Quote
