But one thing absolutely certain, and of political nature about the FAA. They are an immensely quota hiring and promotion organization. They have also spent an incredible amount of time, energy and resources on stupid non productive projects, like de-gendering pronouns in the aviation lexicon and forcing their people to attend all kinds of stupid training regarding social issues. Thanks--I'll pop over there.

Isn't that called gaslighting? 60 years ago, the GQP was fighting to keep POC out of their schools and bathrooms(much like they're doing today). I believe the ATC gave the chopper pilot the heads up about the plane's approach. Daz, we've found some common ground here over the past few days and weeks, but if you believe the "GQP" was the only reason the country needed affirmative action/DEI, you haven't been paying attention. The exceptionally powerful labor unions of the past--were they all about diversity and inclusion? Was there outreach to people of color, immigrants from places like Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala? What about Japanese workers--were the unions looking to bring on those people? How about the police departments of the days of old--were they ahead of the curve on this sort of thing? Did they load up on black officers? In democrat strongholds and neighborhoods across the country--were people from different cultures or skin tone accepted and offered a friendly path to assimilation? Come to think of it--was President-emeritus Joe B known for his diversity and inclusion program during his early years in the Senate? The history of our country is the history of civilization--people tend to gravitate toward people who look like them, who sound like them, and who share cultural values with. That was essential to survival, and as a result, employment practices mirrored that philosophy. In that regard, I always felt that affirmative action was a necessary element of the workplace as viewed from a guy who began his career in the mid-1980s. However, I would never fool myself into believing that this was purely a GOP-driven issue--that defies logic. 3

You're absolutely right, but I'm also right saying the red south was actively fighting it. Good point that even the bluest of democrats could care less if Chinese people are making our goods in unsafe conditions for low pay as long as they're cheap.

If the helicopter is anywhere near the path of a plane the ATC needs to clear that path and tell the helicopter precisely where to go, there is a lot of bad overlapping mistakes for this to happen.

It's not political....well, it is, but it isn't...it's human nature. On the bright side, human nature can change. Btw--I grew up in a very nice, blue collar community that was union strong. The vast majority of my friends had parents that were union members (one of both), as were mine. These were everyday Americans trying to figure out how to get through life, and I feel blessed to have had the experiences with them and for the lessons taught. However, by the standards of today, some might be perceived as closed-minded and provincial. The point I'm always mindful of is that then wasn't now, and some of the fiercest critics today would likely have been the most closed-minded and provincial then. 1 1

They call all standard flights "training missions, " because they are. Nothing unusual about this. Cooperation among military and civilian aviation folks is standard and thorough. Nothing secret about any of this. I won't jump to any conclusions but there are lots of questions such as why, and for what purpose, is a military helicopter operating inside the landing flight path of a commercial airport serving our nations Capitol. There's plenty of other less congested air space to conduct "training missions". How could the helicopter pilot and crew not be aware they were operating inside the air space of Regan National? According to reports, the aircraft hit "head on". Why didn't the Heli pilot recognize the situation and alter his course either left or right or up or down? I expect an experienced military pilot, even at night, can recognize that another aircraft, with lights and transponder signals on, is coming right towards them. Some reports are saying they were "flying dark" which means the chopper was not broadcasting an ADSB signal. Why would they do this? If true this sounds like a critical disregard for safety at a minimum. Edited Thursday at 07:23 PM by All_Pro_Bills 1

We put safety first, drove down close calls, grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities out of millions of flights on our watch. President Trump now oversees the military and the FAA. One of his first acts was to fire and suspend some of the key personnel who helped keep our skies safe. Time for the President to show actual leadership and explain what he will do to prevent this from happening again. 1 1

No, he's saying that you can still get the job if you're a minority that isn't up to par. That may be true, but of course he offers no evidence other than his incoherent ramblings, which is good enough for the cult. Now watch us find out the ATC is a white guy, that's been there for 20 years. I say that because even though he already had that information, he'd STILL make that stupid claim. You can be black, brown, yellow purple, white, trans, cis, male, female and hold any job at any level. The REASON that you hold any job at any level however should not be first and foremost due to your immutable characteristics, or the characteristics that you pretend to have.

History has shown, that given the chance, people WILL discriminate. The orange buffoon just glosses over that part completely, and throws a reverse racist Uno card. If they only hired white men, would it be because they're always best for the job? if so, then that CONFRIMS, that there's racism somewhere along the line, unless of course you hold the belief that white men are just naturally superior(aka racist). That's a pretty easy concept to grasp, even for the uneducated. 1 1

sherpa Posted Thursday at 08:54 PM Posted Thursday at 08:54 PM This is not a subject I am comfortable with, and quite reticent about, but I am absolutely knowledgeable about. The FAA, especially during the last four years, and before, is an organization all about quota hiring and promotions. It suffers morale problems from this, and Buttigieg was a disaster. Got the job as payback from Biden for getting out of the primary system, back when the Dems used to allow one. Simply horrible.
