2020, Bills in AFCC.  Josh's third season.  He is right on schedule.  Bills got beat twice by the Chiefs, handily in each game.  No shame in that.  Chiefs were defending champs and clearly the better team.

2021.  Josh has perhaps the best two game stretch in NFL playoff history.  A win against the Chiefs totally breaks the narrative.  Breaks Chiefs consecutive AFCC appearance streak, breaks Reid and Mahones myth of invincibility as to the Bills in the playoffs, gives Josh a second straight AFCC and a shot at a Super Bowl appearance and perhaps a Super Bowl win (in hindsight, Super Bowl appearance was far from given.  Bengals went into KC and beat the Chiefs and we now know how much trouble the Bengals give us.  Although with the way Josh was playing, it would have been hard to bet against the Bills.)

We've seen what has happened the last three years.  Two more brutal heart-breaking losses to the Chiefs.  This nightmare won't end without a victory against the Chiefs in the playoffs or a Super Bowl appearance.

I'm old enough to remember the four SB losses.  I would have been 100% in favor of moving on from Marv Levy because it was crystal clear we weren't going to win a Super Bowl under Levy.  Is the same true for McDermott?  I would be against that because I wouldn't trust Pegula to make the right call on a replacement (see Rex Ryan, 14 years of total dysfunction running the Sabres).  I would favor going outside the Bills' comfort zone in hiring a DC.  I think we desperately need a fresh look at our D. Finally, I remain optimistic about the next couple years.  Next year's team will be better than this year's team.  Jim Kelly didn't play in a Super Bowl until he was 30.  But next year is going to be crucial.  I think it will be our best shot to win it all and Beane should move heaven and earth to make it happen.

It always goes back to 13 seconds.  Everything goes back to 13 seconds.  Aside from wide right, 13 seconds is the closest thing the Bills have to a Super Bowl win because I guarantee you if the Bills win that game after Josh played the way he played there wasn’t an NFL team assembled that was going to stop this team.

Every year that ends in a tragic loss during Allen’s tenure will forever go back to 13 seconds.  That was the Super Bowl that should have been.

Wrong analysis

We lost to the Giants because of Levy not reigning in Kelly

We lost the next three because the NFC was the far superior conference and Washington and Dallas were bigger, stronger, and faster.

We lost to KC in the 13 second game because McD choked.

We lost the next three playoff games becuase the team was gassed after Hamlin, injuries on defense and Bass, and then this year because Brady sucked and Allen played a B+ game.

I've been a McDermott critic since 13 seconds and I would have fired him last year in favor of Harbaugh or Belichick.

Now there is no one better to get. Run it back one more year. 2025 is mostly on Beane. He has to find a #1 WR and fix the DL and secondary. He will have the cap space and draft capital to do both.

It's the NFL you have no idea what happened every week

That was the division round lol we were closer to the super bowl on Sunday and we were on 13 seconds technically

I don't care about how you feel what would have happened

lol ok, cared enough to respond though.

That was the year Josh was on a rookie contract.  Aside from Tre we were by far and away the healthiest we’ve ever been going into the playoffs.  Josh had a two game span where he threw for 600+ yards, ran for 120+ rushing yards and had 9 touchdowns with 0 turnovers.

While the myth of Joe Burrow continues to grow the truth of those playoffs is he never was able to get his team to score more than 2 TDs in a game.  They wouldn’t have kept pace with what Daboll was cooking up that season.

I'm still convinced had we beaten kc in the 13 seconds game, we would've won the superbowl that season. That team was absolutely on fire in the playoffs. Daboll had that offense absolutely rolling.

I think that our last game at highmark stadium will be a home afc championship game to keep the chiefs from going to their 4th straight Super Bowl.

That’ll be one for the ages

That would certainly be a storyline. They’re one of the best teams/dynasties we’ve seen but I don’t see them beating the Eagles. At least, I hope they don’t lol.

Why not? They are the favourites and have the better QB and HC …. And we know they will have a plan for Saquon…

They have a chance. Not suggesting otherwise. They’ll just have to go all out to stop Saquon and that running game.

AJ Brown/DaVonta Smith/Goedert/Dotson isn’t even the same ballpark.

You either keep the box light and get ran over. Add the extra guy, still get ran over or sell our completely and get hit with PA to one of their SP’s.

Their interior isn’t dealing with Jalen Carter and Milton Williams. On top of that you got Sweat who can turn up but then Nolan Smith who’s on an absolute tear these playoffs.

Maybe it’s just a hope to see them not win again but I honestly feel Philly rolls them by 14+

Fair enough …

I expect the Chiefs to win ….again…

The Eagles looked good beating up on the Commanders last week…but I thought they were there to be had against the Rams the week before ..

That’s a fair point and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t impressed with them in Green Bay and portions of the Rams game. Even against the Commanders they looked shaky at times.

But like Buffalo, they seem to play better defense during the second half. Couple that with sticking to wearing you down with a ground game and opponents can be left just constantly chasing the game.

I tip my hat to KC for their achievements throughout the whole season and my suggesting and hopefulness of them losing isn’t bitter because of our result against them.

Like @Bills!Win! said, the storyline would be one for the ages. No doubt about it. But their 3 peat march started against Philly and I think it ends with them too.

Just so much talent on there. When you couple that with what Philly has done in terms of roster and coaching turnover on the defense in one year, I think it’s more impressive than the continuity that’s actually expected with Reid and his crew in KC.

The 13 Seconds game was probably the most cowardly coaching moment in NFL history.

He wanted the ball kicked out of the endzone because he was terrified of a miracle return. He allowed Mahomes to hit Kelce over the middle for two uncontested big gains in exchange for not giving up a big play to Hill. He conceded the long FG attempt and was just praying that Butker missed it.

The fact that some people watched that and though to themselves "There's a guy who win a Super Bowl if we give him enough chances" is beyond me. It's never going to happen, folks.

I don't know if it's playing scared more than playing stupid.  It was reported that he wanted the ball squib kicked but there was a communication error with Bass.  I also don't think he thought the Chiefs could get the ball into field goal range with two quick plays within 12 seconds even with timeouts. I'll be honest.  I didn't either considering they had to drive 45 yards in two plays.  It took perfect execution from the Chiefs and the Bills leaving the middle of the field wide open for it to happen.  Shocker.  We got outcoached again.

Any way you measure a head coach, with the exception of lots of regular season wins over his tenure here, MCD is terrible.

He's Marvin Lewis with the goat at QB.

Worst d ever into he playoffs, but spends so many picks and cash on it we can't get a better wr than hollins for the only player in NFL history with 4 or 5 consecutive TD seasons.

Thats f-king sad. And hilariously accurate.

Honestly man, going into this game against KC with our 0-3 playoff record against them, I thought of this game as a "mini Super Bowl".  I thought that if we were able to beat KC and make the Super Bowl, I could be fine with whatever happened after that because you can't possibly beat KC in the playoffs and think of this season as a failure at that point.

Now that we are 0-4 against them in the playoffs, there is honestly no difference between finally beating KC in the playoffs and winning a Super Bowl to me; they are both equivalent at this point.

It's kind of become like the playoff drought.  Nobody cared about what happened after we got in; we just wanted to finally punch our ticket.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but from now on, Bills vs. KC in the playoffs IS the Super Bowl for me, and I don't care if it's the divisional round or the championship round because beating KC in the playoffs would be the happiest moment of my life as a Bills fan, without a doubt.

But don't get me wrong, if it were ever possible to make the Super Bowl without encountering KC, I would be all for it.

We would have gotten lit up by the bengals. The good passing accurate QBs have zero issues against our horseshit scheme. Just think of how effortlessly Mahomes, Burrow, Stafford, Hurts, Brady, Goff, etc have moved the ball on us. Even Cousins in that Vikings game. It’s like child’s play. It’s the simplest zone with nothing but space and time. All you have to do is stay calm and you have people wide open. It’s plain as day to me and been for years. How everyone can’t see it is mind blowing. How our own coach doesn’t see it is amazing. You know he has nothing to do with the offense. He has nothing but time to tinker with this defense. And he’s terrible. Wtf are we afraid of? What are we clinging to here?
