No way Bond gets to the 4th, but Jay tested horrible so he may well slide into that 6th/7th range.

I don't think his hamstring "tweak" will impact his draft position at all.  Now, if he runs a 5.3 40 at his pro-day, he might slide a bit, but I wouldn't count on him making it to the Bills' 30th pick.

 

Tyliek Williams is interesting, but he does have arms that are on the shorter end of the spectrum (32") from NFL's perspective.  He was more athletic looking in the field drills than many thought and I felt that he looked more athletic than given credit for in the games I watched.  He is mainly a run-plugger and likely mid-2nd round, but could be penalized for less-than-ideal arm length.  It will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft.

Back to Tyliek, in high school he ran a 4.68 forty so he's a freak athlete, am a little surprised he didn't do any combine drills to up his stock as most feel he late 1st/early 2nd but I'd okay with us taking him at 30.

Thoughts on Skattabo as potential Cook replacement?  Not saying I want to get rid of Cook, I don't think anyone does.  But I'd be inclined to trade him as part of a Garrett package.

I like Cam, I think he is very different style to Cook. I think this Bills offense needs someone more in the Cook style who is a home run threat every time he touches the ball.

First one of these I've posted this offseason - using Pro Football Network simulator. I was trying to balance the board (i.e. broadly pretend the PFN rankings are the rankings as the Bills see them) what I would do and what I think the Bills might do. I actually quite liked the results though:

 

30.Kenneth Grant - DT - Michigan

A 1tech in round 1 is definitely not my favourite outcome. Walter Nolen was also there for me (the Chiefs took an offensive tackle) and if it was purely my preference I'd take him. But I suspect the Bills would side with the more natural compliment to Ed Oliver and take Grant. He fills a big need but is not a difference maker at a premium position. 

 

56.Landon Jackson - EDGE - Arkansas

I think Jackson is talented I just don't know what he is. I think a big end in a 4-3 base is probably my conclusion and the Bills love tall, long defensive ends and he has more explosiveness than you might imagine. 

 

62.Isaiah Bond - WR - Texas

I'm trusting with this pick that for once Brandon Beane follows through on his end of season conclusion that he needs to get more speed on offense. Some people felt his Combine run was disappointing but he still ran a 4.39. That is plenty fast enough.

 

108.Malachi Moore - S - Alabama

This is probably more a me pick than a likely Bills pick given his arms are sub 30". He is a versatile chess piece rather than a down in down out free safety. I've heard him described as a poor man's Brian Branch and that works for me.

 

171.Ty Robinson - DT- Nebraska

Probably doesn't get here after his combine performance but it is a strong DT group so some guys will drop and Robinson's relative lack of size despite being 24 and you'd expect as physically mature as he will get might drop him. He'd make a nice 1-2 punch at 3tech behind Ed.

 

175.Nohl Williams - CB - California

Was the first time in this mock a corner made sense in terms of value at the spot. Williams has good size, ran reasonably and has some zone/man flex if the Bills want to become more of a hybrid defense.

 

179.Teddye Buchanan - LB - California

Athletic linebacker, RAS monster, who fits the Bills profile at the spot and is probably a better run defender than the guys they typically end up with as coverage 'backers. 

 

206.Jalin Conyers - TE - Texas Tech

If the Bills don't bring Morris back on a cheaper that the RFA tag deal then I expect someone like Conyers would be attractive to them. Athletic enough to bring some value as a receiving tight end and while not the best in line blocker in the world I like him as a move blocker. 

 

208.Will Sheppard - WR - Colorado

I like him a lot as a late sleeper. Doesn't have  a single outstanding trait but runs good routes, shows good understanding of leverage on the boundary and has the length to win at the catch point. Developmental guy but with WR2 upside.

I would love grant.  I still do not belive they would take a 1 tech in the first round.

 

i have  the idea that they are going to have a group of guys they seem to be all similar when they get close to their pick and will entertain trade backs.

 

what if the giants want to jump Cleveland for a qb and call and offer 34 and 104 for 30.  
 

I would think unless they love a guy or someone they were hoping would fall to them does, this kind of move makes a lot of sense.

 

I guess the bills could ask for 34 and 65 but that is an overpay unless Buffalo kicked in 108.

 

i just think there is a real chance one of those early 2nd round teams is going to want back in.  If the giants fall in love with a qb and want to jump Cleveland, Buffalo could make out really well.

Dane Brugler has his updated mock after the combine up this morning on the athletic and he has Buffalo taking CB Maxwell Hairston Kentucky.  
 

there are a number of good players available when Buffalo picks in this mock.  He had grant to Detroit.  
 

also had sanders to Pitt.

Here is today's mock from PFN: 

 

I love the first three picks.  We get 2 athletic DTs, and a fast, good route running WR to stretch the field.  Swinson looks like an ascending Edge, Bowman looks like a good fit at safety.  Later DT picks Mills and Stackhouse provide depth.  Nick Nash comes in as a big/fast WR who I think is underrated now.  TE Corners is the 3rd TE if Morris is gone.  D. Sampson provides great RB depth/Cook replacement if Cook is traded, which may be necessary to get Garrett.

I think Grant may be the 1 tech exception for the Bills.  The dude is super athletic and also offers pass rushing ability.  He's a total wrecker.  I view it as you get an elite 1 tech with some pass rush, and totally free up Oliver.  Basically getting a 1T and 3T in one due to freeing up Oliver.

His scouting report reminds me of Tre White's coming out. Positives: Long arms, good footwork, good route anticipation. Negatives: average speed, can get beat vertically, not a particularly willing tackler. So we know that player profile can work very well in this defense.

He isn't as thick as Tre. But I do like him. I think without the health concerns in 2024 woulda been a first round lock.

I really hope so and that Buffalo is the one to do the deal.  I’m hard-pressed to think that there will be someone that the Bills rate so far above the other available players at 30 that they won’t consider a trade out.
