He's not going to take vet min plus incentives. I hope we wouldn’t offer more than that.

Who? We need to cut ties with Von...period.  Goodbye Star Jones, Johnson and Jefferson. Bring in Crosby and the DT from Miami. Draft Grant, Harmon or Walker.

edit: would prefer Dexter or Q.Williams, but trying to be more realistic.

While I wholeheartedly agree we should move on from Miller (cut with a post 6/1 designation), I am bracing myself for the Bills to work out a deal to keep him. That’s why I’m hedging. I can see McDermott wanting him on the team. I don’t think it happens, but I don’t think the odds are 0. It may depend on how much Miller wants to keep playing in general and in Buffalo specifically.

I don't think he'll ever have another 10 sack season. Maybe 5 to 7 and he'll probably get injured again. Hammies and such.

I'll be surprised if he gets another contract in the NFL.  His only hope is a June 1st cut and then the Bills bring him back for vet minimum.  They would do that too, because the front office won't have to admit total failure.  Win win.

I had assumed that we would cut him after this year but . . .

We only save 9 mil by cutting him. He started to play fairly well towards the end of the season. How easy is it to replace his production at that price? If he stays another year his deadcap goes from 15m to 9m.

Absolutely. He’s too old. We need some more DOGS on this defense. Guys with game breaking ability. I really don’t care what position. Imagine a TJ Watt or Darrelle Revis back there. I used to be in denial, but the D is absolutely lacking in star power. They give up way too many points in the postseason . I hope Buffalo makes a real splash move in the offseason even if they have to overpay.

Guy was averaging a sack a game until he blew his knee out. Typical Bills luck.

He had an injury history and was like 33. It was a ridiculous signing….but every podcast pundit at the time loved the move, lol.

the Bills have paid him roughly $61,000 per snap over 3 years--$70,000 per this season.  Missed a bunch of games.

in the 4 years before Beane signed him, he averaged 822 snaps per season.  For the Bills it has been 329 over 3 seasons.

He averaged 11.5 sacks per season for the 10 years before Buffalo.   14 total sacks in 36 games here.

He averaged 54 total tackles and over 15 TFL per season before.  17 total since he got to Buffalo.

He has to go.  Either he is totally shot (likely) or Babich doesn't know what to do with him.

The Bills do a poor job of pressuring the passer. Von did a good job on a limited number of snaps. That said, Von should be replaced with a younger pass rusher. Trade him some where he wants to go. We need two tackles and two ends. AJ gets 3 sacks twice a year. That isn’t the kind of production that helps a defense each week. We need speed on the back end to replace Hamlin. The defense needs to get younger and healthier in general. As it is two of our best players Benford and Bernard are always injured just in time for the playoffs.  McDermott’s reliance on old heads and broken down bodies always betrays us in the final game. They have nothing left. We need young gamers. McDermott’s judgement is faulty there. He lets Louis Cine rot on the bench and go to Philly, meanwhile our safeties are beat up against the Chiefs and are constantly a half step or three late. Coach, you are WRONG.

The chiefs playoff game OL holding is pretty much turned off for both teams every year so I take it with a grain of salt. I’m sure we were too but I was focused more on our dline against their oline and some of the holds they were getting away with were hilarious and wayyyy beyond ‘there’s holding on every play’ type stuff.  Really feels like the refs are trying to summon a shootout

I can't see a team trading him at his current cap number. Just cut him and look to replace him. Josh Sweat is probably going to be the big dog this offseason to sign but I'd rather go with guys that fly under the radar like Matt Judon (as long as he doesn't get elite money and Dayo Odeyingbo.  Chase Young another guy I'd love to see but not sure he fits our locker room.

What would it take to pry Micah Parsons away from Dallas? They paid Dak and Lamb crazy money, do they have enough for him too? Anyone have their salary cap numbers?

Yes.  It’s time to stop using PFF grades and metrics to justify players.

get players that actually make plays, get sacks, do things to win.   Forcing a QB to side step before he throws for a first down or have a receiver get wide open before he drops the ball… make for really good PFF grades…but they don’t win the games that need to be won.
