Should Von Miller be cut?

which makes no sense. Epenesa played 3 times more and was not noticeable?  Babich also played man twice as much as usual which made no sense and was a disaster.  I get it there were injuries and a general lack of talent, but Babich should have a lot to answer to on his game calling Sunday. Also, on the season this was a bottom five defense on 3rd down and a bottom ten defense on yardage given up.

It’ll be interesting to see the development of Solomon.  They say the biggest jump is usually from year 1 to year 2.

 

He was great in college, even though it wasn’t against top competition.

There is no way he is playing for us under his current contact.   However, this was a 6 year cap schedule.  With dead cap hit from '26 and '27 I think we could keep him cap neutral in '25.  I give better than 50/50 chance that he restructures to something like "up to 16M", with a 6-7M base and incentives that get him to 10-12M if he gets 10 sacks.

 

It all comes down to how much Von wants to play.  If he wants to come back I think we give him the shot to continue being a rotational veteran.

with the dead money at play, if the price is right, he might be back here. I won't be mad either way. It will 100% be a business decision.

Couple things, not sure if spotrac has this updated yet but he hit unlikely to be earned incentives, that gets added to his next years dead cap.  I think they made do the post June 1 thing with him.

After hearing Von and the management speak after the season...I think they approach him with the option of a pay cut. Not a restructure. A straight up pay cut.  If he takes it he will likely be back, if not then they release him.

Its time to move on. Use his money to sign pat jones in fa, then draft multiple des and multiple CBS

For sure he's not the player he was before the injury but he did generate some pressure in some games especially when he had $1.5 million on the plate ! 

 

I'm sure this will be a conversation that Beane, McD & Pegs will talk about this off season and if there is any way they can come up with better production from a younger player for less money than they lose in the cap hit i think they will do it and move into the future .

 

Von has helped some of the rookies or younger players on the team but Beane has known when to cut bait when needed and i don't expect that to change with Von, there are players at his age that still have good production like Calaous Campbell, Kyle Van Noy, & a few others so it's possible that they might feel they could get 1 more year of decent out put out of him .

I hate admitting this, he was still great before the injury and one of the greatest ever. He was the closest thing to Bruce we've ever had. And he probably could have been great for a few years....

 

He's washed and it's over. That injury destroyed his explosive ability and bend

Defensive ends ain't cheap, and saving 9 mil isn't as much as we think at the DE position. (Assuming we are bringing in an upgrade)

Well that means if we get someone at 15 million we only down 6 million. Or we wait till June and save 17 million 👍
