Mikie2times Posted Tuesday at 11:06 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:06 PM (edited) James Cook- Cook’s fourth-down run—WOW. I’m honestly struggling to remember a more clutch run in the last 30+ years of watching this team. The way he just defied gravity? Insane. People used to say he wasn’t that physical, but that run proved otherwise. Before the playoffs, I was thinking, “He’s just a running back, don’t extend those guys.” But after that performance? Yeah, you gotta give him a second contract. He’s been the second-best player on the offense, a legit difference-maker. Honestly, it blows my mind we didn’t see him more. Mack Hollins—We brought him in on the cheap, and he delivered. The guy’s energy and attitude are contagious, and he stepped right into Gabe Davis' role, playing better than Davis in most regards. Hollins definitely earned his spot and should 100% be a Buffalo Bill moving forward. Tyler Bass—huge credit to him. Like many, I had my doubts about him coming off last year, but he shook that off and made some huge kicks, including a clutch 50+ yarder. He stepped up when it mattered, nailed all his extra points, and looks like he’s turned the corner. I love seeing a guy overcome adversity and show that mental toughness. Mini shout out to Ed Oliver who from my view point gave everything he had in the postseason after arguably his worst regular season as a pro. Sort of the inverse of what we have seen from him historically. He seemed more motivated this postseason than any prior and I appreciated the tenacity. Another mini shout out to Jordan Phillips. I'll be honest, I can't speak to his play this entire game with the intelligence I wish I could. I was watching a lot of things but the play he made late in the 4th quarter was one of the better ones this season. He just decimated the interior of the KC offense. Picked up a grown A$$ NFL offensive lineman and proceeded to throw him into Mahomes. Just an awesome play. I feel like in a lot of regards the roster stepped up more this year than any year prior. They looked more hardened, more physical, and more determined which perhaps points to other elements as driver to why it didn't work out. We played with a ton of heart and these guys really stood out to me. Curious if you noticed any others or just shared a similar view as I did. harmonkillebrew Posted yesterday at 12:49 AM Posted yesterday at 12:49 AM Cook is the real deal and was a huge part of our offensive success. His emergence helped account for the loss of Diggs and other past playmakers. But we should learn from it and look to add another playmaker with speed. It just adds another dimension to the offense that complements Josh. I love Mack, but he should really be a complementary role player on O. Not a go to guy. Bass stepped up too. I agree. Rosseau had a real solid season, even his sack numbers weren't gaudy. He made so many plays in other ways. He didn't show up when it mattered most in the playoffs though, but I still think he is a young rising star that we should re-sign. Ray Davis was really promising as well and will be a nice 1-2 with Cook for years to come. I thought Rapp played surprising well too. And once again the Oline amazingly stayed health and with Andersen really paved the way for a strong run game. Lots of good pieces to continue to build on 4 4 Quote
MJS Posted yesterday at 12:59 AM Posted yesterday at 12:59 AM Jordan Phillips has the potential to be really good. I guess for him he just needs to be supremely motivated. Sometimes he is and sometimes he isn't. But when he is, he makes some amazing plays. I was against re-signing him, but he was definately worth it. 1 Quote
Sojourner Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM Weird when you think about… the guy a lot wanted/willing to trade in Cook the guy a lot were laughing at before the season and not for his comedic antics the guy plenty wanted cut throughout and prior to the season all put on some of the best games of their seasons the other night. Huge let down for Jimbo. What a dog he was. 2 2 1 Quote

I think this was the game where James Cook made a name for himself. Also I’d add in Matt Milano who made a tremendous open field sack on Mahomes which knocked them out of FG range. That was also a huge play 4 2 2 Quote

I think the interior of our D-line played well during this playoff run. I don't think we get past Baltimore even with the turnovers if they were playing like they were earlier in the year. I think our ends screwed the pooch against KC, particularly Groot. 1 Quote

If you re-sign him, I think he has to be your last DT. 3 1 Quote

Comebackkid Posted yesterday at 01:26 AM Posted yesterday at 01:26 AM Cook has really amazed me with his speed this year. that run around the left outside for the TD was shocking. watching it i was like..no way he gets around that edge and he did. He's turned things up 100% this year. He's really a Difference maker. 3 Quote
UKBillFan Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Perhaps it says something that one guy not mentioned so far, as far as I can tell, is… Josh Allen. 1 Quote
quincy Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Posted yesterday at 01:28 AM Jordan Phillips saved a touchdown with his sack, Kelce was wide open in the end zone one second later, Hamlin couldn't cover his route. 1 Quote
Old Coot Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM Interesting stat: KC D played nickel and dime for 93% of the game. Is this typical for KC this year? Quote
BuffaloRebound Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM That was a huge kick by Bass in the first quarter. We were on the verge of getting blown out. Good kickers make the kicks their teams absolutely need and that was a huge kick. Kudos to him. It’s hard for kickers to get it back once they’ve lost it. 4 Quote

With what we run offensively, it’s not surprising. We’re not a big mauling type of offense you need to be big for. And it shows. Their safeties man handled some of our guys at the LOS. Quote

As impressive as his speed is, to me it was his hard "in between" the tackles running and his ability to hold on to the ball that really impressed me from last year. He is a must moving forward. 3 5 Quote
