Ga boy Posted Tuesday at 05:17 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:17 PM The #1 seed gets too much advantage. KC had more time to rest and heal. I know this is obvious, but Bills were hampered by the game the previous week. No Rapp and Benford was skating on thin ice. The first half we looked like we were fatigued. Like we had concrete shoes, which resulted in being out played. We were the better team and 2 weeks rest would have been huge. The consequences of losing those regular season games bit us in the butt. Maybe NFL should grant byes to 2 teams. KC has gotten an easier path and I don’t like it. 1 2 2 8 1 Quote

The Red King Posted Tuesday at 05:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:22 PM Used to be that way, when there were only two Wild Cards per conference. The #2 seed lost their bye when the third Wild Card was added. Ironically, once that Wild Card was added, Buffalo has won the #2 seed that season and every season after, because of course. 1 2 3 1 Quote
LabattBlue Posted Tuesday at 05:28 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:28 PM Not having the #1 seed had nothing to do with outcome. Top 3 reasons…out coached, out coached & out coached. Perfect example and difference in the game…Mahomes rushing success and Allen’s lack of rushing success. 2 1 Quote
C.Biscuit97 Posted Tuesday at 05:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:29 PM The Chiefs made the SB last year with no bye. 3 2 1 Quote
The Red King Posted Tuesday at 05:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:30 PM Actually, before realignment every division winner got a bye. You had three division winners and two Wild Cards. Wild Card weekend had the two Wild Cards play each other. The winner then joined the division winners in the divisional weekend. I think that was the fairest. Division winners needed to win two playoff games to reach the Super Bowl, Wild Cards needed three. 2 1 Quote

If we were the #1 seed and that game is in Buffalo, I'm almost sure we win. We don't make those bonehead mistakes at home. But we'll never know now. Agree though that fatigue or whatever else from them resting is a non factor. 1 Quote

mannc Posted Tuesday at 05:35 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:35 PM I guarantee the first year they change the rule, we’ll get the number 1 seed and KC will get the second seed. Absolutely guaranteed. 1 Quote

Bagwell358 Posted Tuesday at 05:35 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:35 PM Everytime we take the field against this team we will have a coaching disadvantage. We will have to be remarkably better with personnel and have get more bounces. Quote
Pete Posted Tuesday at 05:38 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:38 PM There used to be two byes in each conference playoffs. Then the greedy NFL expanded playoffs for more money, burning Buffalo Quote

Not that KC would not have had wrinkles worked out for us, but one week less for them and one more for us would’ve been helpful. In addition to the extra rest KC got - week 18, bye and one more day after the divisional round - the second seed had a more physical matchup against Baltimore. Not that Houston doesn’t have terrors at DE, but overall they are not nearly as physical as Baltimore. And they didn’t go down to the wire in their game. None of that is an excuse for not throwing in our own wrinkles (tush push), but it was just a much easier road for the 1 seed. That all said, go get that advantage. It’s huge. We could have, we just fell short. Edited Tuesday at 06:33 PM by BarleyNY Quote
zow2 Posted Tuesday at 05:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:39 PM (edited) The NFL went to 7 teams and eliminated the 2 seed bye only when the Bills started earning the 2 seed. You can't make this stuff up! Between that and having our best QB and offensive teams exist in the Mahomes/Reid era, makes me want to weep. Edited Tuesday at 05:41 PM by zow2 1 Quote

jethro_tull Posted Tuesday at 05:43 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:43 PM I would like to see the top 3 division winners get byes and have three wild card teams. No doubt KC used the extra time to develop schemes how to stop our 4th down QB sneak and develop their own 4th and short plays. It was an advantage for them. Quote
