Doc Brown Posted Tuesday at 09:39 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:39 PM (edited) I think Smiley will be fired and that's about it. Two things can be true about McDermott. They overachieved given their roster quality (even with Josh Allen) this year making it all the way to the AFC Championship when Vegas had the Jets as the best odds to win the AFC East prior to the season. They got completely out coached again against the Chiefs reinforcing all the doubts about whether McDermott has a playoff ceiling and is therefore oddly a victim of his own success. And I'm sick of him bringing in like 5 JAG receivers every year and overpaying them(Sherfield, Hines, Harty, MVS, Claypool, Samuel) for barely any production. Just go out and find that one dude. Beane didn't have the stones to trade up for BTJ. All it would've cost us is Cole Bishop...watch Bishop become a bust 2 years from now? 🤣 Quote

I think you do it at this point. Especially when Beane has a lot of swings and misses in the early rounds. 5 hours ago, MJS said: Does the dline coach need to be changed? No, the DLine players do Quote
Governor Posted Tuesday at 10:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:07 PM Beane shouldn’t buy any bananas this week. Quote
wppete Posted Tuesday at 10:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:09 PM I wouldn’t consider this a shock but Bobby Babitch needs to go back to coaching LBs and McDermott needs to call the Defense. Promote Kromer as assistant Head coach to assist with Game Day duties Quote

We need to find a Kyle Van Noy aka a double digit sack guy on the cheap. Id love to bring Judon on a small deal and mentioned Dayo Odeyingbo in another thread. As I can't see Von back and guys like Toohill, Jefferson and Phillips are likely not returned. Quote
Goin Breakdown Posted Tuesday at 10:11 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:11 PM The more I think of it and try to put everything into words, I keep erasing my thoughts to start over. BUT it boils down to this for me. Changes that have to be made are coaching unless the staff we have can put their egos aside and truly adapt. I'm tired of hearing that opposing teams call us predictable. We've heard it from KC, Baltimore and Cinci. that being said. A coaching change doesn't guarantee results either. Can we rent a coach? I'm sick of slow, undersized guys who our coaching staff stays obsessed with due to their consistency. Yes, they are consistently mediocre and/or consistently come up small in big moments. I want something different. I want a guy like Cole Bishop to play through rough patches in-season because we see his ceiling and want it to show as we enter the playoffs. I don't want a bunch of guys who play reliable regular season ball and either can't or won't show up when it matters. Draft a better measurable Safety in the Draft and let Damar Hamlin types go the Levi Wallace/Dane Jackson route of fading into obscurity elsewhere. So I want an upgrade too but honestly I have seen nothing to suggest just playing through rough patches will improve Cole Bishop. He still looks totally lost in coverage. Go look at the big pass play to JuJu first drive nothing particularly clever scheme wise but Bishop completelty misplays his assignment and its a big play. I liked the Bishop pick at the time but I am worried about it right now. Hopefully a full offseason (I don't forget he missed the entire camp) and the game slowing down for him a bit sparks something. Because he still looks out of place on the field to me. They should let Hamlin walk and sign a mid range vet FA who is a natural free safety IMO. Then let Rapp and Bishop compete to play as the box safety. Quote

Agree with what you said, except Cook. I want him to stay, love the guy. But I’m not so sure he is a priority for them. Resign Ty Johnson and you have Davis and Gore Jr. so don’t see Beane breaking the bank on Cook. Rousseau, Benford, Bernard and Epenesa are all FA’s in 2026. Josh last year of his deal is 2028. Also, fully expect a decent priced FA this year at WR, or defensive backfield. Quote
